Every Kid Healthy Week
Julian Newman Families,
April 25th through April 28th is “Every Kid Healthy Week.” It is observed the last week of April each year in an effort to shine a spotlight on the great actions schools and families are taking to improve the health and wellness of their kids and the link between nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and learning. You can find more activities and information at: https://www.actionforhealthykids.org/get-involved/every-kid-healthy-week/. We encourage you to participate at home as well!
This week, we will encourage students to participate in healthy daily challenges. For example: only drink water for the day, try new healthy food, learn and/or try a new dance move, teach a family member or friend a new exercise, etc.
On Thursday, April 28th, parents are invited to attend PE with their child and participate in physical activity. Make sure to wear your comfy clothes! :)

Dear JNES Parents,
We are so excited to share some information about our Field Day and End of the Year Celebration at Julian Newman. It will take place on Friday, May 20th this year. The day will be divided in half so that two grade levels are participating in relays, while the others are playing in the Celebration area, then they will swap. Specific times are posted below so you can make plans accordingly. We would love for parents to join our spectator zone and cheer on students at scheduled relay times. Only parents who sign up to work a game or inflatable (at the link below) will be able to enter the Celebration Area at their designated time.
Students will be outside a majority of the day, either participating in old fashion relays, including a tug of war between homerooms or playing in the celebration area with inflatables, slides, bounce houses, games, and concessions. Again this year we will be selling armbands for $10.00. Armbands will be pre-sold between now and Thursday, May 19. The purchase of an armband will include the following and entitles you to unlimited fun in the Celebration Area! You can sign up to volunteer by clicking on the button below.
Obstacle Course
Double Lane Slide
BINGO
Inflatable Ax Throw
Jr. Basketball
Football Challenge
Rockin Bounce
Castle Slide and Bounce

Your support and participation are greatly appreciated. I hope all goes well and it will be an enjoyable day.
