Bullpup Bulletin
August 2026
Dear NHE,
Welcome Back, North Harlem Families!
As we begin an exciting new school year at North Harlem Elementary, we are proud to introduce our 2026β2027 theme: Our School, Our Promise.
A promise is more than wordsβit is a commitment. This year, we are committed to providing every child with the opportunities, support, and encouragement they need to learn, grow, and thrive. Together, our students, staff, families, and community will work to ensure that North Harlem remains a place where every child is known, valued, and challenged to reach their full potential.
This year, we are also excited to share our renewed vision and mission:
Our Vision
One community. One goal. Success for all.
Our Mission
The NHE Community will be:
High Achieving
Active Learners
Respectful, Responsible, Ready
Leaders
Empowered
Motivated
These statements reflect who we are, what we believe, and what we promise to our students each day. They will guide our decisions, our work, and our partnerships throughout the year.
As we embark on this journey together, we invite each family to join us in making Our School, Our Promise a reality. When schools and families work together, incredible things happen for children.
Thank you for your continued support of North Harlem Elementary. We look forward to a wonderful year filled with learning, growth, celebration, and success.
Together, let's make this year one of our best yetβbecause this is Our School, Our Promise.
Our School, Our Promise

Student Registration - required
Parent Portal
Sign up for Parent Portal. Parent Portal is utilized to access student schedules, current grades, progress reports, report cards, and family surveys. Track your student's progress throughout the year with this tool.
New to Columbia County Students: If you are new to the district, you will receive the needed student ID number on the first day of school. Parent Portal for new students will open on August 4.
Open House
We are so excited to see our families on Thursday, July 30th for our Open House event from 5:00-7:00. In an effort to reduce traffic in and around our school, families with last names beginning A-K are welcome to arrive at 5:00 and families with last names beginning L-Z are welcome to arrive at 6:00, as schedules permit.
All returning families and newly registered students who have completed their registration by 12:00pm on July 30 will be placed on a roster. Rosters will be posted in the front window of the school and at the end of each hallway one hour before open house. We have spent a great deal of time balancing rosters and ensuring the best placement for all of our students, as such, class changes will not be completed during open house.
All rosters are tentative for the first 10 days of school.
School Supply Lists
Transportation
Car Riders
Our welcome bell will ring at 8:10 each school day. Students may enter the building after this bell has signaled the start of the day. Students should remain in their car before carline begins.
If you will be bringing your child to school in the morning, please turn right as you enter the school parking lot and drive around the school building to the cafeteria side of the school. Both in the mornings and afternoons, we operate off a dual drop off/pick up lane. We ask parents to commit to the lane they enter. If you are in the right lane, you will need to turn right on West Boundary St. and if you are in the left lane, you will need to turn left on West Boundary. For safety reasons, please do not merge when exiting the car line.
Please do not exit your car in the car line. We will have several staff members available to help our students exit their vehicles and enter the building. Please have your child prepared to exit the vehicle with their bookbag and water bottle in hand.
In the afternoons, please do not call for students to come to your vehicles. We will be teaching students the safety procedures and they must wait to walk to their vehicles until they have been told it is safe to do so.
Please be patient with us and one another as everyone learns the procedures for carline. Please expect longer lines and delays the first week of school.
If your child is a car rider and you want him or her to eat breakfast at school you will need to have them here by 8:20.
The tardy bell rings at 8:40.
Walkers
For safety reasons, parents are not permitted to park and walk to school to pick up or drop off students. Walkers must live within walking distance (1 mile) to be permitted to walk to and from school. Please make sure students arrive no earlier than 8:10 as there will be no one to supervise if they arrive any earlier. Walkers will be dismissed at point A or B depending on where they live.
Before and After School
Before and after school care is available at an additional fee for families that need supervised care outside of school hours.
Bus Riders
This year, there is a new, easier way for families and staff to stay informed about daily school bus updates and route changes.
Through ParentSquare, parents and guardians who are listed as contacts for a student in Infinite Campus will have access to real-time bus notifications and updates specific to their childβs school. School staff will also be able to view these updates as they happen.
To join the ParentSquare group for daily bus changes for North Harlem Elementary, visit: https://www.parentsquare.com/groups/join/jfae3dp2f5
Be sure to complete the online student registration for the 26-27 school year and ensure your contact information in Infinite Campus is up to date. Then click the link to receive important transportation updates for our school all year long.

Student Attendance
Every day of instruction counts! Last year, 16% of our students were chronically absent, missing 18 or more days of instruction. 66% of students missed 9 days or more. Please help us to improve student attendance and achievement by ensuring your child is present and ready to learn each day.
