Health Office News Health Office News

Physical Examinations & Immunizations are due by September 2, 2026

MA Health Requirements: In compliance with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations, the KP School District requires the following documents before a student enters the school.

The school nurse must receive the following documents:

  • The latest physical within 30 days of entering the school

  • A current physical (within the last year) for ALL 7th and 10th grade students

  • Annually before participation in school-sponsored sports

Immunization Requirements:

Massachusetts Department of Public Health Regulation 105 CMR 220 requires immunizing students before starting school. An immunization certificate/record that includes the month, day, and year the immunizations were administered must be submitted to and reviewed by the school nurse before the student begins school.

Exemption - If there are medical reasons why your child has not been immunized, a certificate must be obtained from your physician and forwarded to the school nurse; this letter should be provided annually. For religious exemption, a letter must be provided annually stating that the immunization(s) are against one's sincere religious beliefs. Please note that if there is an outbreak of a communicable disease, those students with exemptions may be excluded for the duration of the incubation of that particular illness.

Immunization Guidelines: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/school-immunizations

Please submit Middle School information to: msnurse@kingphilip.org

Medications

All medication orders must be renewed at the beginning of each academic year and/or as necessary during the academic year from a licensed prescriber, and written parent/guardian permission to administer the medication. All prescription medications to be administered by the school nurse must be in their original pharmacy or manufacturer-labeled container. A maximum of a thirty (30) school-day supply of the student's medication is stored at a time at school. For short-term prescription medications, i.e., those requiring administration for ten school days or fewer, the pharmacy-labeled container may be used in place of a licensed prescriber's order.

Please contact the middle school nurses at (508) 541-3457 or msnurse@kingphilip.org if you have any questions.

Important Student Meal Update

from Joyce Lydon, Director of Food Services

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

King Philip Regional School District participates in the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. As part of this program, King Philip Middle School and King Philip High School offer healthy meals every school day. The Commonwealth is supplementing National School Lunch Program funds to ensure all students have access to healthy school meals in Massachusetts, regardless of household income. We ask that families complete a Meal Benefit Application as this provides data for school funding and community resources. The results from each Meal Benefit Application are used to ensure sustainability for this program.

Please note that even though meals will be free for all, it is very important for families to still complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals for the 2026-2027 school year. You can view the application here at www.kingphilip.org on the Food Services Page. Meal applications can also be found in the main office, and the kitchen office at both King Philip Middle School and King Philip High School. We strongly encourage ALL families to submit this form as it allows us to waive fees for certain school activities and clubs should eligibility be established.

For school year 26-27, the cost of a second student meal will be $3.50 and the cost of a second breakfast will be $2.00. Lunch accounts can be set up at www.myschoolbucks.com or funds may be deposited directly to a student account at the point-of-sale register. Lunch accounts may be used to purchase a second meal and a variety of A-List snacks.

As always, we are grateful for the opportunity to provide nourishing and healthy meals to all King Philip students so please reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Best,

Joyce Lydon
