REMS School Counselors๐ŸŽ

Dear Falcon community,

Since 1949, May has been designated as Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to sharpen our focus on the importance of mental health, increasing access to care, and reducing stigma. As we pause and reflect, itโ€™s also a time to recognize and support mental health needs for all our community. It is time to advocate for support for all mental health needs.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, nearly 1 in 5 adults in the United States live with a mental, behavioral, or emotional illness. In 2020, that number was estimated to be 52.9 million. Among adolescents aged 12โ€“17, approximately 1 in 5 experienced a major depressive episode.

As for those aged 65 and over, recent studies have shown higher rates of mental illness and suicide, with 1 in 4 suffering from a mental illness or substance abuse condition. These numbers are staggering, and this demographic is the least likely to seek services.

Research confirms that our nationโ€™s unprecedented mental health crisis has escalated since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the need for mental health care is monumental. As advocates, we can educate our students about its impact and how they can contribute to a better outcome and provide resources available to support them.

In observance of Mental Health Awareness Month, the counseling team will be providing weekly Mental Health lessons to all students and guided discussions to promote mental health and general well-being.

Students, your school counselors are here to help with anything you may need! Please reach out!

If your counselors can be of service, please contact us:

REMS DRESS CODE๐Ÿ‘•

For the safety of our students, please ensure that your child is in dress code. Every day, students should be wearing a polo shirt/spirit shirt and solid colored jeans or khaki/black/blue pants. On Thursdays, students may wear a college shirt if they have done. Torn jeans above the knee can only be worn with leggings under to prevent the exposure of skin. No hoodies without a full zipper/buttons will be allowed inside campus.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES๐Ÿ“

All of our students received free school supplies, backpack, and agenda on their first day of school. If your child needs any additional resource, please contact our school at 915-926-4800.
