Message from Our Principal

Hello Mountain View Family,

Thank you to everyone who came out on Thursday for our Title I Parent meeting and our Open House. We enjoyed seeing everyone.

We want to thank Mike Bouvier for reaching out from Dominoes and donating pizza to support our event. The pizza from the Dominoes restaurant in Harker Heights was enjoyed by everyone! Thank you so much!

We have two activities we would like to encourage parents or guardians to complete. One is Impact Aid and the other is the KISD District Survey. We use the information from both of these to support our campus and district.

This month we have Fall Break October 9-13. Students are also off on October 6 so teachers have a Professional Development Day. I have included some Fall family activities below for everyone to enjoy.

Best regards,

LaBecca Thompson

Principal, Mountain View ES

Mountain View Drop Off and Pick up Procedures

Please open the attachment below for procedures. Also a few reminders:

  • If you drop children off in any of the parking lots, please walk them to the building. They may not be seen in the dark mornings and this is a danger to your child.
  • The front parking lot will be closed off at 7:00 AM and again at 2:45 to keep our students safe.
  • When dropping off at valet in the mornings do not change lanes before dropping off your child.
  • Please do not stop on Iowa Dr. to drop students off. You can continue around the school to valet in the back of the school or park in the parking lots and walk your child to the front of the building.
  • Be careful when turning into the school in the mornings. It is dark and students may be crossing.

Grades 3-5

Happy Fall Parents:

I want to thank you for sharing your children with me. In classroom guidance in 4th and 5th grade we have been discussing how do we handle problems we face in our daily lives. We can choose to handle them like a Carrot, Egg, or Coffee Bean. Each class will be creating a Positive Attribute bulletin board for their classroom. It will focus on positive attributes to remind them who they really are and what they stand for. In 3rd grade we are focusing on Connecting Activities as well as how we handle problems we face each day. Ask your students to explain the role of the Carrot, Egg, and Coffee Bean. We are adding some new vocabulary to describe ways we act and feel in situations.

Grades PK-2

Hello Pre-K through 2nd grade Parents,

At the beginning of the school year, we started off with introductions. Meeting our new Mountain Lions and welcoming back our former Mountain Lions has been a joy. We wanted to ensure that each student knows their school counselor and the role we play. We let all of them know that we are here to support them in any way we can.

This month, our character trait is “Respect.” We enjoyed reading the book, “Harrison P. Spader Personal Space Invader,” by Christianne C. Jones and “Personal Space Camp” by Julia Cook. We discussed what respect looks like and how we can respect other's personal space as well as set boundaries for their own personal space.

Helping our students develop respectful habits will not only help them be successful in school but also life.

We have enjoyed learning and discussing the importance of respect and respecting other's personal space with your children.
