Summer School Starts Monday Summer School Starts Monday

Dear D103 Summer School Families,

District 103 Summer School at Daniel Wright Junior High School will begin on Monday, June 8, and continue through Wednesday, July 1 (no classes on June 19). Classes meet Monday through Friday each week. This email contains important details to be aware of and tasks to complete before the first day of summer school.

Summer School Schedule

  • Enrichment and ESY Summer School students: Please print your child’s summer school schedule from PowerSchool. Some classes have new room numbers, and your child must have the most up-to-date schedule.

  • Directions to print schedule(s):

    • Log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

    • Click on Grades and Attendance tab

    • Click on Grades and Attendance SS to find summer school information.

    • Step-by-step directions.

    • It may be easier to view and print schedules on a desktop computer.

  • Extended School Year (ESY) and Guided students at Sprague and Daniel Wright: Teachers will email families their student's schedule and classroom number.

  • Send a copy of your child’s schedule with them to summer school. (Multiple copies kept in a backpack are a good idea as well.)

Arrival

  • Arrive No EARLIER than 8:20 a.m. There is no outside supervision and students will not be permitted to enter the building before 8:20 a.m.

  • Morning student drop off will occur in front of Daniel Wright’s Main Entrance (Door A).

  • Please pull all the way up in line. Moving as far forward as possible prevents cars from backing up on Riverwoods Road and causing a safety concern.

  • Children should exit your vehicle curbside (to the right).

  • Parents must stay in their vehicles.

  • Staff will greet children upon arrival and will assist them in getting to their assigned classes.

  • For the safety and security of our students, parents and guardians will NOT be allowed beyond the front office.

Class Times

  • Period 1 -- 8:30 to 9:20 a.m.
  • Period 2 -- 9:25 to 10:15 a.m.

  • Period 3 -- 10:20 to 11:10 a.m.

  • Period 4 -- 11:15 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.

Dismissal

  • Early dismissal after Period 2 begins at 10:15 a.m.

  • Regular dismissal after Period 4 begins at 12:05 p.m.

  • Please follow the dismissal map indicating student pick-up traffic patterns.

  • All students will exit through doors P and R for car pick up.

  • All students will exit through door A for the buses, walking, or biking.

  • There will be staff on hand to direct traffic so our children remain safe at all times.

  • Families picking up their children are expected to follow the traffic flow as indicated on the map at all times.

  • Parents should NOT park in the parking lot at any time.

  • Please display a paper sign in your vehicle's window with your student(s) first and last name and grade level (last grade completed).

  • CARPOOLING is highly recommended.

Bus Riders

  • For those students using district transportation, bus routes will be posted on Friday, June 5, in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

  • Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal.

  • A transportation tab is on the left side of the screen, where you can view bus assignments.

  • Summer school bus stops may differ than regular school year stops. Review information carefully in PowerSchool.

  • Students should be at their assigned bus stop at least five minutes before their assigned bus arrival time.

  • For summer transportation questions, contact Kara Mishler, by email at kmishler@d103.org or call 847-295-8258.

  • Bus riding families will receive a separate communication with information on tracking their student's bus on MyView app. The tracking will differ than the regular school year.

D103 Club

  • If your child is attending Camp 103 Club, please review the email sent to you from Club Director Robynn Bryant, rbryant@d103.org.

Absences

  • If your child will be absent from summer school, email your child’s absence to summerschoolattendance@d103.org.

  • Include your child’s last name, first name, grade level (last grade completed), first-period class name, and the date(s) of their absence(s).

Snacks

  • Students may bring a school-appropriate snack (yogurt, cheese, vegetables, and fruit) and a refillable water bottle. No lunch is provided at summer school.

If you have any additional questions, please email them to summerschool@d103.org. You may also call (847) 295-1560.
