WRE Arrival and Dismissal

Please read carefully!

WRE Arrival andDismissalPlease read carefully!

Arrival and Dismissal can be stressful for our students, staff and families. Please read the information below very carefully so that you are prepared prior to the first day. We do ask for grace during the first few days. Please know we continually look at our plans and usually within a week things will move more quickly.

Parents are welcome to walk their child(ren) to class on the first day of school only. After that, students will walk in the building independently and staff will be available to assist. Instruction will start at 7:50. Students arriving after 7:50am will be marked tardy after week 1. Excessive tardies can lead to truancy. Please plan to arrive early enough that your child is able to get to their classroom by 7:50.

Important! Important!

🌟Beginning on day 2, the front parking lot is closed for drop off with the exception of students in our Communications classroom and those who have a handicap tag. All car riders need to go through the front (A-L) or back (M-Z) car line.

🌟For our students' safety, it is imperative that you not park on Copper Canyon or Redstem, so that traffic, including our busses, can safely get through. Parking on these streets block your neighbor's driveways and slow down our A-L and M-Z car lines. Most importantly, we need the area free from parked cars so that drivers are able to see the walkers, ensuring our walkers can get home safely.

🌟 All dismissal changes must be submitted by calling the front office no later than 1:30pm each day. In order to maintain a safe and orderly dismissal, we are not able to pull students from class after 2:45.

Updated Traffic Flow Updated Traffic Flow

To add another layer of safety for our students, we have updated the traffic flow when for A-L and M-Z car rider lanes.

A-L: when exiting the A-L car rider lane, you can either go straight onto Pine Leaf or turn right onto Copper Canyon. There will be no left turns from Windsong onto Copper Canyon.

M-Z: when entering the M-Z car rider lane, please plan to turn right into the back parking lot from Redstem. You will not be able to turn left into the back parking lot.

Walkers Walkers

Walker Arrival

  • Walkers can enter through the front, back or gym side door of the school.
  • The front parking lot is not open for drop off with the exception of students in our Behavior Transition and Communications classrooms and those who have a medical need such as a broken leg. All car riders need to go through the front (A-L) or back (M-Z) car line. If you are driving to drop off or pick up your student, then your student is a car rider and should be dropped off or picked up in A-L or M-Z car line.

Kinder - 1st Grade Walker Dismissal

  • K-1 students will not be allowed to walk home alone. If you would like your child to walk home with an older sibling, all teachers of your children need to be notified in writing.
  • K-1 families will line up by the gym doors and teachers will call for your student when it is your turn in line. Please form the line along the sidewalk so that you do not block the driveway.
  • You must have the provided car tag visible. Without the tag, the student will meet the parent in the front office after the parent’s driver's license has been verified.
  • Walkers must utilize the crosswalks with crossing guards. Please remind your 2nd-5th graders of this safety rule if they are walking home alone.
  • For the safety of our students and families, please refrain from driving to pick up your walker. This causes congestion and low visibility for those walking. If you are driving to pick up a student you would be considered a car rider and will need to use the front (A-L) or back (M-Z) car line.

2nd - 5th Grade Walker Dismissal

  • 2nd - 5th grade walkers will be dismissed at the Windsong park (gym/south side of the building at the large park) and do not require a parent/guardian be present.
  • Staff will walk our 2nd - 5th grade students to the Windsong park. Please wait for them at that location. You may want to select a meeting spot so they can easily find you.
  • Walkers must utilize the crosswalks with crossing guards. Please remind your 2nd-5th graders of this safety rule if they are walking home alone.
  • For the safety of our students and families, please refrain from driving to pick up your walker at the park. This causes congestion and low visibility for those walking. If you are driving to pick up a student you would be considered a car rider and will need to use the front (A-L) or back (M-Z) car line.
