The Hatter Chatter
District Communications Newsletter

Message from Dr. Eveslage, Superintendent of Schools
Greetings, Hatboro-Horsham Students, Staff, and Families,
As we enter March, I find myself continually inspired by the remarkable spirit of both competition and camaraderie that defines our district. This excitement is building as we approach our annual Red and Black Week at the high school. What makes this tradition truly special is how it transforms our entire school community into a vibrant celebration of school spirit while fostering friendly competition among our students.
Red and Black Week exemplifies our goal of teaching young people that healthy competition can coexist with mutual respect and support. As students prepare for spirit dress-up days, collaborative team challenges, and creative performances, they show that competition can bring out excellence while strengthening bonds within our school community.
I look forward to seeing students from different grade levels, backgrounds, and interests come together, supporting one another while giving their all to their respective teams. These moments remind us that true victory lies not just in the final score, but in how we compete and treat one another.
As we continue through the school year, I encourage all our students to embrace this balance of competitive spirit and supportive camaraderie. Whether in academics, athletics, arts, or other activities, remember that our most significant achievements often come when we challenge ourselves to excel while lifting others alongside us.
Enjoy this March edition of The Hatter Chatter!
Scott Eveslage, Ed.D.

Andrew Rodriguez, a Hatboro-Horsham High School senior studying Culinary Arts at Eastern Center for Arts and Technology, has been named February 2025's Student of the Month. HHHS Students Win Top Honor at Leadership Conference
Hatboro-Horsham High School's Black Student Union leaders shone brightly at the Delaware Valley Consortium for Equity and Excellence (DVCEE) Student Leadership Conference, bringing home the prestigious Superintendent's Award. The conference, hosted at Upper Merion High School, brought together over 100 students and educators from across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
Under this year's theme "Don't Fight Back! Fight Forward!", seven HHHS students developed a compelling proposal focused on creating inclusive safe spaces within the school community. Their initiative aims to ensure all students feel welcomed, heard, and encouraged to participate in school life.
The students will present their award-winning proposal to the Hatboro-Horsham Educational Foundation (HHEF), taking a crucial step toward implementing their vision. Their achievement not only represents excellence in leadership but also demonstrates our students' commitment to fostering a more inclusive school environment.
KV Students Showcase Artwork at Ursinus College Exhibition
Four talented Keith Valley Middle School seventh-grade students represented HHSD with distinction at the prestigious Shifting Spaces Art Showcase held at Ursinus College on February 27, 2025.
Chulpan Shaipova, Faith Bogucki, Sienna Wilson, and Alison Hutson-Romero were selected to display their compelling artwork at this special exhibition, which focused on promoting healthy relationships and creating violence-free communities.
The evening exhibition, which ran from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, drew attendees from across the region who came to appreciate the students' creative expressions on these important themes. The showcase gave our young artists a unique opportunity to display their work in a collegiate setting while contributing to meaningful dialogue about community well-being.
The selection of the students' artwork for display at Ursinus College was a tremendous honor that showcased both their technical skills and deep understanding of complex social themes. Their selection for such a prestigious venue reflects their individual talents and the strength of KV's art program.
HHSD Celebrates Black History Month Through Art, Music, and Student Leadership
During February, our schools celebrated Black History Month by showcasing the power of cross-generational learning and artistic expression. The month-long commemoration featured events that engaged students of all grade levels in meaningful ways.
One of the highlights of the celebration was the combined concert featuring the middle and high school choirs for the annual Black History Month Concert. Students joined forces to perform songs that highlighted the journey and achievements of African American history. Their powerful performances showcased not only their musical talents but also enriched their understanding of the historical and cultural significance embedded within the music.
Our hallways were transformed into galleries featuring student-created murals and artwork, each piece telling a unique story of African American achievement and influence. These visual expressions served as daily reminders of African Americans' profound impact on our nation's history and culture.
In an impressive demonstration of peer leadership, high school students acted as educators, sharing their knowledge with elementary school students. These interactions not only established meaningful connections between grade levels but also enhanced our youngest learners' understanding and appreciation of Black history and culture.
Throughout the month, special assemblies showcased the countless contributions of African Americans in various fields, including science, literature, civil rights, and the arts.
These celebrations highlight our district's commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments where all students feel represented and valued in their educational journey. The enthusiasm and engagement demonstrated by our students and staff show how learning about our shared history strengthens our school community.
