Moore Counseling Beats
Week of August 2025 Parent Edition
Moore Attendance Matters
At our school, we want every child to feel safe, healthy, and ready to learn. We value working together with families and believe that strong partnerships help children have the best school experience possible. One of the most important parts of student success is regular school attendance. Children who attend school consistently are more likely to read on grade level by third grade, succeed in middle school, build positive friendships, and graduate on time.
To help your child make the most of their school year, we ask that appointments be scheduled during school breaks whenever possible, so they donโt miss valuable learning time. If your child is absent, please remember to send a note on the day they returnโthis helps us keep accurate records for your child.
The Process:
- Students absent for 2 days will receive a call from the teacher.
- Students absent 3-4 days will receive a call from the school counselor.
- The parents of students absent for 5 days will be invited to sign an attendance contract.
- Students who accumulate 6 absences will be referred to the district social worker.
Supporting our students and families is the goal of Moore Elementary School. Let us all "stay on beat" and be "one band-one sound" by ensuring that our students are present each day to receive the valuable instruction being prepared for them each day. Thank you in advance for partnering with us to ensure that your child has a successful academic and social year.
Moore PBIS
Moore Elementary School is a PBIS school. PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. This framework focuses on creating a safe, positive, and predictable learning environment where all students can succeed. PBIS emphasizes teaching and reteaching schoolwide behaviors rather than punishment. This does not mean that students will not be held accountable for inappropriate behavior. However, teachers are always looking for students demonstrating our schoolwide expectations.
Please help us create a safe learning environment by reminding your students about our schoolwide expectations, which are Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Resolve (problem-solving). Every parent wants their child to learn in a safe, predictable learning community. While you are not in classes, you can still help us to provide a safe environment by upholding the expectation that your student will be respectful, responsible, and a problem solver.
Character Trait for the Month of August: RESPECT!
The character trait for August is RESPECT. What exactly does that mean? In the school setting, students are expected to respect others by (1) demonstrating behaviors that make others feel safe, (2) taking turns to talk or express their point of view, listening even when they do not like what is being said, following directions from adults, and accepting those directions with an appropriate attitude.
Teachers are observing daily to choose the student of the month for August. Parents will be notified the week of August 22 via an invitation to join the Cub of the Month celebration in the media center.
Grandparent's Day is September 12
Grandparents Day is quickly approaching! Please make plans to join us on September 12 in the cafeteria to eat with your grandchild/ren. Please make note of the following procedures.
- Please arrive shortly before your grandchild is scheduled for lunch in the cafeteria to ensure that you have time to eat, and just in case we need to call multiple grandchildren.
- If you have multiple grandchildren attending Moore Elementary School, both grandchildren will be called to the cafeteria instead of having our grandparents wait for different lunch periods.
- Please bring the exact dollar amount for your lunch. The cafeteria will not have change. All lunch purchases must be in cash.
- When you arrive, please be prepared to follow the sign-in procedures to ensure that we are maintaining a safe learning environment.
- Please check with your child's teacher to ensure that you arrive at his/her designated lunch time.
