School Picture Make Up/Retake Day: November 6th 📷 School Picture Make Up/Retake Day: November 6th 📷

Parker Portraits will be available to take pictures beginning at 9:30 am. For retakes at no cost, the students must return their original picture packet to the photographer at the time of retakes. If you purchased a digital download, please send a note with your student, or a receipt, letting the photographer know. Parker Portraits will then resend the download with their retake picture.

If a student is taking a make-up picture, due to missing the original picture day or due to being a new student to Eagle Hills, the photographer will give the student a paper that day with instructions on how to place a picture order.

This will be a quick morning of picture taking. Parker Portraits may only be on site for an hour to two hours max. If your student is unavailable for pictures, please contact Parker Portraits at 208-345-0807 to make alternate arrangements.

School Issued Devices School Issued Devices

We have limited computers to loan out to students who leave their devices at home. Often students who forget their computers have to go a day without access to important lesson materials. Please make checking backpacks for computers and chargers as part of your morning and/or evening routine each day.

One-Way Alerts One-Way Alerts

West Ada School District, including all schools, regularly utilizes the Apptegy Notification system to send district and school-specific information to parents/guardians via text, phone call, and/or e-mail. The communications sent via Apptegy are one-way alerts, to which the recipient cannot respond.

These communications include notification regarding attendance, KUDOS, lockdown drills, late buses, school closures, lunch account balances, registration information, as well as other important topics.

Those present in the Household Tab in PowerSchool are automatically enrolled to receive these messages. If you are not receiving messages:

Attendance - Easier Reporting and a New Way to Excuse Planned Absences Attendance - Easier Reporting and a New Way to Excuse Planned Absences

West Ada School District has introduced a new, simplified way for families to report student absences and an easier system to request participation in the Self-Directed Learner (SDL) program to excuse planned absences.

Parents and guardians can now simply click the Attendance Button on either their school's website or the West Ada School District homepage to be redirected to a page dedicated to attendance and the SDL program. From the same page, you may access the form to submit an absence online and consideration for the SDL program

What is the Self-Directed Learner (SDL) Program?

The SDL program gives eligible students the opportunity to continue learning during a planned absence while avoiding an unexcused absence. When reporting an absence through the online attendance form, parents and guardians can also request the SDL option.

Students who participate receive meaningful, standards-based learning activities from a certified SDL teacher via email. These assignments are designed to supplement classroom instruction and must be completed in addition to any regular classwork missed during the absence.

To qualify, families must notify the school (which can be done online) before the planned absence, and students must complete and submit all assigned SDL work within 10 school days of returning to school. Once the work has been reviewed and approved by the SDL teacher, the student's attendance code is updated from PRC (Parent Communication) to SDL.

SDL is not intended to replace classroom instruction, and students remain responsible for completing all missed coursework, assessments, and instructional expectations. The SDL program replaces the former Extended Learning Opportunity (ELO) program.

A Reminder About Attendance

West Ada recognizes that circumstances sometimes require students to miss school, and these attendance options are designed to provide families with flexibility when needed. However, regular classroom attendance remains the best way for students to engage with instruction, build relationships, and achieve academic success.

Cell Phones & Electronic Devices Cell Phones & Electronic Devices

Here is an update about our cell phone and electronic device policy (Policy 502.80).

To keep classrooms focused and free from distractions, students are not allowed to use cell phones and personal electronic devices during class unless the teacher gives permission. Here are the key points:

  • No Devices in Class: Students must place their devices in a designated area (like lockers or baskets) before class starts.
  • Devices Off: All devices should be powered off while in the designated classroom storage area.
  • Smartwatches: These can stay with students but must be turned off during class.
  • Exceptions: Teachers may allow device use for specific educational purposes or in emergencies.

This policy starts with the 2024-2025 school year and applies to all students. If a student uses their watch or phone, we will store it in the office for the day and have parents/guardians pick it up. We’re committed to making our schools a great place to learn, and your support helps us achieve that

After School Pick Up Process After School Pick Up Process

Eagle Hills has a unique parent drop off and pick up due to our 1978 footprint. Drop off in the morning is a little different than pick up due to the flow. Cars coming off Ranch or from Rockingham Dr. merge at the Ranch entrance and drop students off by the dumpsters.

After school we use a different flow pattern as many families show up early and wait, which has blocked our entrance in the past. Please see the map below for the afternoon pattern. We have several; adults staffing parent pick up. Please listen to them as they direct you on how the system works. Parent pick up is usually cleared within 10 minutes of school letting out. Please encourage your child to go directly to parent pick up after school. We appreciate everyone working together for a safe and efficient pick up. Parents can help by putting a sign with their last name and student's grade in the passenger dashboard.
