Edition 19: May 23, 2023 Edition 19: May 23, 2023

As we all prepare for what hopefully will be a wonderful summer, we have one final week of Temple Athletics ahead. First, we have our women’s tennis pair of Jamie Wei and Maiko Uchijima in competition at the NCAA Championships, marking a first time that an Owls doubles pair qualified. Then we have two of our track standouts, Laura Nicholson and Allie Riches, competing at the NCAA Regionals in Jacksonville, Fla. Finally, Temple prepares to host the NCAA Women’s Rowing Championships on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. It marks just the second time in school history that Temple has hosted an NCAA National Championship, coming 42 years after hosting the 1981 NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four at the Spectrum.

WELCOME HOME OWLS WELCOME HOME OWLS

Another Study Abroad trip is in the books as 22 of our student-athletes just returned from traveling to Madrid, Spain as part of a short duration study abroad experience.

Special thanks to Dr. Jaime Durán from the College of Liberal Arts who serves as the Temple Spain Program Director. In all, student-athletes from nine different teams (men’s basketball, football, men’s soccer, women’s basketball, fencing, field hockey, gymnastics, women’s tennis and volleyball) led by Dr. Debra Blair from STHM spent time in three different cities (Madrid, Toledo, Oviedo) over seven days while learning the language and culture of the country.
