Welcome to new and returning families, we are looking forward to 2023-2024 school year! We have been busy getting ready for your arrival on August 30th, the first day back to school. I hope this Smore newsletter finds you excited to begin. A weekly Smore newsletter will go out each Friday, sharing updates, student awards for doing the right thing, and anything that you will want to know. We are eagerly looking forward to a fresh start this year, bringing our strengths and community together.
We look forward to a strong year, filled with learning, patience, growth, progress, working through challenges, and teamwork. I hope you do something wonderful with the remainder of your summer days, and we can’t wait to see you for our upcoming back-to-school event! Back to School Events:
August 29th - 3:30 - 4:30 - 1st Grade through 4th Grade Meet and Greet - Students and families come to meet our amazing teachers and staff.
August 29th - 4:30 - 5:30 - Kindergarten Only - Meet and Greet - Kindergarten students and families come to meet our amazing teacher, and have the opportunity to get on a bus and take a ride to see what riding on a bus is all about.
August 30th - 8:20 - 3:25 - First Day of School - All Students (K-4)
September 4th - No School for Students - Labor Day Holiday
October 5th - Open House - All Grades - 5:30 - 6:30 - Families are invited into the school to come and see the great things their students have been working on and have a tour.
Bus Note:
There will only be one bus this year for Pierce School students, and it will be Bus #20. It was shared with me by STA that there will be no Bus #6 this year, due to a lack of drivers, so all students will be on Bus #20. This might cause some confusion at first, but please speak with your student about being on Bus #20 this year. Bus routes will be published on the school website in the next week.
School Lunch:
We are preparing to share the lunch menu on the first day of school. There is also an online school payment software to put money into your student’s account. If you want to apply for free/reduced lunch, that can be online as well, or there is a paper copy, and it is completely confidential.
Pierce PTO:
If you are interested in joining the Pierce School PTO, we would love to have you! You are welcome to come when you can, and we meet on the second Wednesday of each month, in the library, at 6:00. Here are the dates: 2023-2024 PTO Meeting Dates: 9/13, 10/11, 11/8, 12/13, 1/10, 2/7, 3/13, 4/10, 5/8, 6/5. We are working on getting the new school playground approved and installed this year, so we are very excited about all of the hard work that people have done so far! Tanisha Lowell is our PTO President this year, and you can also direct any questions to ptopierceelem@gmail.com if you are interested in getting more involved, as there are lots of job opportunities available. No job is too small to help make the school a better place to be!
