Learning Fire Safety with Local Heroes
Last Thursday morning, students in kindergarten through second grade enjoyed a special visit from our local fire departments! Firefighters and fire trucks from Swatara Fire-Rescue, Citizen's Fire Company #1 of Highspire, and Steelton Pa Fire Department joined us to teach students about the importance of fire safety and provide a hands-on learning experience they won't soon forget.
Students had the opportunity to meet local firefighters, explore the fire trucks up close, learn about the equipment they use, and ask questions about fire safety and emergency response. Experiences like these help make important safety lessons meaningful, engaging, and memorable for our youngest learners.
A heartfelt thank you to our local fire departments for working together to bring this valuable learning opportunity to our students. We truly appreciate your commitment to community education and your collaboration in ensuring every student had the chance to interact with firefighters, examine the trucks, and learn more about fire safety.
We look forward to this annual visit each October and are grateful for the continued partnership and support of our local first responders!

Hands-On Learning at Harrisburg University
Students in grades 11 and 12 recently visited Harrisburg University to explore the Advanced Manufacturing and Robotics program. During the visit, students gained firsthand experience with emerging technologies by touring the facility and observing state-of-the-art 3D printing equipment in action.
The experience included a factory simulation activity, an immersive virtual reality session, and a robotics programming challenge where students learned how to program a robot to pick up and move blocks. Students also collaborated with peers from other schools to complete a hands-on project, strengthening their teamwork and problem-solving skills.
This engaging field experience provided valuable insight into careers in advanced manufacturing, robotics, and engineering while allowing students to apply STEM concepts in a real-world learning environment.
