News from Japanese Class
7th Grade ๆฅๆฌ่ช update
It all starts with positive habits. In Japanese class we are reviewing a lot of content that most students learned last year, but more importantly, we are building our positive habits that students can develop for learning and using languages for life. Things such as ways to organize notes, what it means to be ready and to try your best, critically thinking about what words mean and how saying them in different ways can completely alter their meaning.
Focusing on continuing their independent learning daily. This is the time of the year when all students start getting a lot of homework from classes, but for languages, we encourage all students to focus on finding something we are working on in class that is challenging, or interesting, and reviewing or exploring that topic for 10-20 minutes nightly. This habit is often one of the best supports that students can develop for excellent performance in their language skills long term.

Why Should You Adopt A Rabbit?
Have you ever thought about adopting a pet?
If so, what was the first animal that came to your mind?
Probably a cat or dog.
For most people, these are the first things you think of when you hear the word pet.
What about rabbits?
Rabbits are the third most commonly surrendered animal, which means they need homes too! Rabbits are great pets: they are quiet, have low-maintenance grooming, and can be trained just like a cat to use a litter box. Unlike dogs, you donโt need to take them for daily walks, rabbits just need an open area to play and stretch their legs.
Rabbits are overall a fun pet to have, they can be very affectionate and sweet. They are also okay to have around kids. Here are some of the rabbits up for adoption (This is not all of them). We are helping specifically promote Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society (MCRS).

Indigenous Peoples' Day
The second Monday in October marks Indigenous Peoples' Day, established by a 2021 presidential proclamation to recognize the contributions, resilience, and inherent sovereignty of Indigenous peoples.
On Monday, October 12, middle school students will engage in a lesson focused on sovereignty, treaties, and contemporary issues. They will explore the inquiry question: How have Indigenous peoples in Mni Sota Makoce fought for sovereignty, and how do living traditions demonstrate sovereignty today?
