The Knight's Herald: October 19th

College Park Needs your Vote!
This new start time begins on Tuesday, October 13th. It will not impact any other periods other than 1st and 5th period. As always, if a student is riding a bus and the bus arrives late, they will not be counted tardy. For our car riders, please adjust your drop off schedule to accommodate this new time. The addition of time is related to our required number of instructional minutes per TEA.
Concern Regarding Toys in Classrooms
Our campus staff have noticed an influx of toys recently in our classrooms. I have included a picture below of some of the most common ones we are seeing on a daily basis. Many of the toys have a liquid inside of them and the students are squeezing them to the point where they burst. As you are aware, we are almost complete with our two-year renovation which includes brand new carpeting, flooring, and furniture. When the toys burst, often it results in a sticky substance on those items which is difficult to clean. Therefore, we would love your help in encouraging your children to keep those toys at home and/or put away while on campus. We want to ensure our new things last for many years to come! :)
PTO Spirit Day: Cane's on October 28th from 5:00 - 9:00 PM
Principal Message
Knight's Herald: October 19
Dear Knox Families,
I hope you are having a great week. I just looked at the calendar, and we have five weeks to Thanksgiving break! It is hard to believe how fast this semester is going this year.
Last Thursday, October 15th, was our first pep rally of the year. We took all our students to the track and they did a wonderful job. I am so proud of all the various teams performances - Band, Orchestra, Pep Squad, Gingham Girls, Cheer, and Color Guard. We also recognized our fall sports: Cross Country Boys and Girls, Football and Volleyball. All four teams worked so hard in their various sports! I am so proud of them. As a reminder, tryouts for Girls and Boys Basketball are next week, and games will start soon after.
House/Advisory Information
In this update, I have a lot of new information. The House of Kindness won our first House cup championship for the highest attendance rate and the least number of tardies. We started our second quarter House cup competition today and we announced that the highest attendance rate paired with the lowest number of referrals (the best behavior overall) are the two categories this time for the competition. The winning house will get their ice cream, or popsicle treats during advisory this week on Wednesday.
While we have the house competitions going on, we also are teaching our students about the eight-character traits of our houses which are: Attitude, Character, Honor, Integrity, Kindness, Perseverance, Respect, and Responsibility. Last month, we highlighted the house of kindness. Our teachers received Kindness coupons to pass out to students who had exhibited kindness during that month. This month, we are highlighting Integrity for the next two weeks. Then, in November, we will be doing Character and partnering with the Texas Standard of Caring and Giving. We will have a school-wide canned food drive. Finally, for December, we will highlight Perseverance as our students get ready for final exams. When students receive their coupons from teachers in recognition of these traits, they get an opportunity to exchange it for a snack on a specified day. Our wonderful PTO is assisting us by running the concession stand for us and supplying the treats! We appreciate all that do for our campus. :)
Reminder: Start Time Change: Tuesday, October 13th at 8:45 a.m.
If your child rides a bus, they are not counted tardy if the bus is late. For the car rider lines, please try to adjust your drop off schedule to have your student in the building prior to 8:45 a.m. We still are having quite a few students late via our car rider lines.
You should have been notified couple weeks ago about the change to our start time for all junior high schools. Due to our inclement weather days, our district has decided to add 5 minutes to the school day starting next Tuesday. In addition, our early release days on Friday, December 18th, and Thursday, May 27th, will release at 1:15 p.m. instead of 12:50 p.m. I have included the adjusted bell schedule above for your review. As for the two early release days, they are the end of our final exam schedules for both weeks. I will put out those exam schedules in the next Knight's Herald edition.
As a reminder, our Knox PTO is an awesome organization that supports our students and our staff all year long. In this newsletter, I have included some opportunities to join PTO. If you are able, they would love to have you join their group.
Knox Rox is at the end of the month on Friday, October 30th. It is our biggest fundraiser of the year for our Knox PTO. I have included information below in the newsletter about how to get tickets. Support our PTO through a fun event for your child!
Please make sure that you scroll through the entire newsletter to get all the important dates. I will send follow up newsletters each week from now until the start of school. Some of the information may be repeated. However, it will be a quick way to keep you updated if any information has changed.
Have a great week!
Take Care,
Dr. Stacey Moseley

Bullying Prevention and Awareness Month
Unity Day, started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in October 2011, is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. This is a day when we can come together to send a visible message of building community through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. The call to action is simple: wear and share the color orange. This vibrant statement becomes a conversation starter, showing support for students who have been bullied and for bullying prevention.
We look forward to seeing everyone in orange on Wednesday, October 21st!
CISD Empowering Families Website
Conroe ISD's Empowering Families website provides parents and guardians with practical resources to support their children's social, emotional, and mental well-being. Families can explore short videos, conversation starters, character-building activities, and helpful community resources. The goal is to strengthen family connections, encourage positive habits, and support student success both at home and at school.
We encourage our families to explore these valuable resources!

Below are the recommended guidelines to follow when students have insufficient funds and/or exceed the 15-day charge limit: Students in grades 7-12 Applications for free and reduced-price meal service are available online at www.myschoolapps.com. Transportation
Transportation
A bus driver may refer a student to a campus administrator’s office to maintain effective discipline on the bus. The campus administrator must employ additional discipline management techniques, as appropriate, which can include restricting or revoking a student’s bus riding privileges. Since the District’s primary responsibility in transporting students in District vehicles is to do so as safely as possible, the operator of the vehicle must focus on driving and not have his or her attention distracted by student misbehavior. Therefore, when appropriate disciplinary management techniques fail to improve student behavior or when specific misconduct warrants immediate removal, a campus administrator may restrict or revoke a student’s transportation privilege, in accordance with law.
Register for transportation, look up what bus do you ride, or find more information about School Bus Safety at https://www.conroeisd.net/o/cisd/page/transportation
