πŸ₯From the Nurse

The Texas Legislature mandates health screenings for students in specific grade levels to help identify potential concerns early. These screenings will take place during the school day on November 4, 2025 for Vision and Hearing Screening and November 18, 2025 for Spinal Screening.

If all screenings cannot be completed in one day, they may be continued on a subsequent day.

Required Screenings by Grade Level:

  • 8th Grade Boys: Spinal Screening

  • 7th Grade Girls: Spinal Screening

  • 7th Grade Students: Vision, Hearing, and Risk Assessment for Type 2 Diabetes

  • New-to-District Students in 6th & 8th Grade: Vision and Hearing

To ensure accurate results, students who wear glasses or contact lenses should bring or wear them on screening day. Families of students who are identified as needing further evaluation will receive a referral letter following the screenings.

Nurse Hannah Baio is here to partner with you in supporting the health and well-being of our students. Please feel free to reach out to her with any questions or concerns.

πŸ”Student Clubs

Clubs are a great way for students to get connected at Hays! In accordance with SB12, a parent or guardian must provide written permission before a student may participate in a club. If your child will be participating in a club this year, please complete this form. ***Please note that more clubs will be added to this list as they are approved throughout the semester. If your child is interested in a club that's not listed, encourage them to talk to a teacher about getting it started!

Together We Prosper

We had a fun and eventful Red Ribbon Week, hosted by NJHS and Student Council. The week included dress up days, activities during lunches, guidance lessons from our counselors, and ended with a spirited Halloween! We hope all of our Hawks have an exciting and safe Halloween weekend!

THANK YOU to PTO for ordering a new microwave for our cafeteria! Earlier this week, one of our microwaves quit working, and PTO wasted no time ordering a new one. Many students rely on the microwaves in the cafeteria to heat their lunches, and we're glad to be operating back at full capacity!

Profile of a Learner

What does it mean to be a successful Prosper ISD learner of tomorrow? We are gathering input from all stakeholders to develop a Profile of a Learner. This framework will capture the essential skills and attributes our students need to thrive in life, not just in the classroom. It's our vision for the complete learner, developed in alignment with our Strategic Priorities.

Athletic Event Expectations

  • To ensure student safety at Hays, all students who attend campus events as spectators are required to be picked up by 8:00 p.m. or shortly after the event ends, whichever comes first, unless they are attending the game with a parent. Students who are not picked up on time may lose the privilege of attending future events.
  • For ANY games played at Children's Health Stadium, please also utilize the Clear Bag policy.

Important Update: Change to Student Access in Google Chat

This notice is to inform you of an immediate change to student capabilities within Google Chat.

Effective immediately, students will no longer have the ability to start any type of Google Chat. This includes one-on-one messages, group chats, and chat spaces. Students will still be able to access the Google Chat platform, but only staff members will have the ability to initiate a conversation. This adjustment ensures that Google Chat's functionality is used exclusively for appropriate, school-related purposes. If a student needs to communicate electronically with a staff member, they should use email as the preferred and encouraged method.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation with this change.

BEST PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN TEXAS

Named by HEB’s Excellence in Education Awards as the Best Large District in the State of Texas, Prosper ISD has an established 67-year history that is grounded in the humble roots of a farming community, now soaring to the fastest growing school district in Texas, due in no small part to the pursuit of excellence in the arts, academics and athletics. Our students and staff are routinely recognized on the local, state, and national levels for outstanding achievements, and our teachers are highly qualified experts who bring out the best in every student.

ABOUT PROSPER ISD

Prosper ISD is a school district located north of Dallas in Collin and Denton Counties. The district spans approximately 58 square miles and serves more than 32,000 students in 20 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 4 high schools, and one early childhood school.

🫢 THANK YOU TO OUR COMMUNITY FOR SUPPORTING OUR TEACHERS & STUDENTS

In November 2023, an overwhelming majority of voters approved $2.7 billion to continue building excellence in Prosper ISD. Thank you for your continued financial commitment to our district.

And while our facilities are second to none, we know that it is the people who make the difference in Prosper ISD. From our bus drivers to our teachers to our teacher assistants, our staff is here to support students as they pursue their dreams of excellence in academics, fine arts, and athletics.
