MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Lindblom families and community,
WELCOME BACK!!! I pray that winter break was everything you needed it to be. I hope you are well rested, committed to maintaining momentum, and ready to take on new challenges.
Our school community is pressing forward with confidence, delivering high-quality instruction, differentiating to meet student needs, and creating culturally relevant learning experiences that affirm identity and expand possibilities. We are committed to learning and leading with integrity, wisdom, and purpose, stewarding our resources well, and protecting the joy and progress we are building together.
We know that learning does not happen in isolation, and we multiply our impact when we are aligned. Student experience and perception are facets of our evidence-based decision-making and monitoring process regarding our vision, mission, and goals. Our Cultivate results reflect our efforts to support our students. 74.5% of our students participated in the survey, and they reported growth in 8 out of 9 domains. As a matter of fact, our fall Cultivate data reveals that Teacher Caring is an opportunity for us to commit to ensuring that our students know that our staff:
enjoy working with them.
are interested in their lives outside of school.
know them and greet students by name when they come to class.
desire to build one-on-one relationships with each student in their class
This semester, let’s all commit to doing what we need to do to move forward together, grounded in purpose, committed to progress, and confident that what we do each day shapes who we become. Here’s to a strong start and a meaningful year ahead.
Together we rise onward and upward.

Calling Lindblom Alumni!
We hope you are doing well in life after high school! We wanted to reach out and ask if you would be willing to participate in our upcoming Lindblom Alumni Day. Lindblom Alumni Day is scheduled for January 14th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There will be multiple presentations throughout different flex periods as part of our Colloquium Day. Please note that you do not need to attend the entire day—we welcome whatever time you are able to give. We have linked our registration form here and kindly ask that you fill it out if you are interested in participating.

Student Spotlight
Congratulations to Lindblom Robotics and their mentors and coaches: Mr. Anaya, Ms. Bowns-Kamphuis (aka Ms. BK), Mr. DeRonne, Mr. Van Rhein (aka KVR), Mr. Pilsk, and Mr. Starzyk! They finished the 2025 season with success at every level.
Our two Academic Center teams competed at the Lindblom Qualifier Tournament, and both performed exceptionally well. Our Gold Team earned two awards: the Engineering Excellence Award and the Robot Performance Award. These awards qualify the team to advance to the IL Sectional Tournament at CVCA 1/31!
Congratulations to the JV Robotics teams! They competed at the Museum of Science and Industry. The venue was incredible, and our Maroon Eagles finished the tournament with a perfect 5–0 record. We look forward to competing again in January and February as we continue to build momentum and soar toward even greater success.
Congratulations to Lindblom’s Varsity Robotics team! They hosted the LEGO tournament and presented to elementary students from across the district, showcasing the exciting possibilities that can be achieved through the pursuit of STEM.

Tech history mini-exhibit in the library
The very popular typewriter exhibit from last January is back. We’ll have it from Jan. 26 through Feb. 10. I’d like to add to the typewriter with other vintage technology so that students can see and try out old tech from the “1900s.” If you have old cell phones, slide-rules, percentage graders, rotary phones, a walkman, a beeper, etc, that we can put on display for students to touch, see, and try out, please let me know. Reach out to Ms. Confer, mopysson@cps.edu.

BE IMPACTFUL
Attendance Matters
Our goal for this year is 91%, a number that ensures our students are getting the consistent instruction they need to thrive. Currently, our numbers are trending at this target (overall rate 91.94%).
Why does this matter?
Consistency: Even missing two days a month can make it harder to keep up with lessons.
Connection: Students who attend regularly feel more connected to their peers and teachers.
Achievement: High attendance is the quickest path to reaching academic goals.
Let’s work together to close the gap. We are aiming for a strong finish this month—let’s see if we can get above that 91% goal so that we're more likely to end the year on target!
