Daniel FeeneyPreschool UpdateJanuary 26, 2024

Enjoy your weekend! Enjoy your weekend!

Please be sure to read all of the updates below including the information about the DFP Carnival on 3/10. It has been a wonderful week - lots of play with snow themed activities, doctor's offices, art activities with melting snowmen and "germs", and hands on activities including chipping animals out of the ice! We could have some real snow in our sensory tables next week - we will soon find out. Thank you for your partnership and as a reminder Report Cards and Progress Reports will be available on Tuesday, 1/30.

Warm regards,

Julie Martin

What is Heggerty?

We use a curriculum called Heggerty to work on expose students to phonemic awareness. Below is an example of what it looks like in our classrooms (this is taken from YouTube).

What is Fundations?

Fundations exposes children to early letter/sound association. These are brief lessons embedded into the school day and it is vertically aligned to the district curriculum so students will be familiar with Foundations when they enter Kindergarten.

For writing and letter formation, we use the Handwriting Without Tears program.Students will use the Fundation letter writing program in Kindergarten.
