๐ College Applications
Senior year brings the excitingโand sometimes overwhelmingโprocess of applying to college. No matter where your student plans to pursue their education after graduation, staying on top of application deadlines and requirements is essential.
To help, the Hart High School College Application Guide serves as a complete, one-stop resource for everything "beyond high school."
Please encourage your student to download or bookmark the guide on their personal devices today. It contains step-by-step instructions, timelines, and tips to help simplify the entire application process!
As senior year kicks off, staying organized with your application portals is key. Students should launch all California public applications directly through their CaliforniaColleges.edu account to ensure their high school coursework and transcripts sync properly.
Here is a quick breakdown of the major application platforms:
California State University (CSU) โ Cal State Apply
Requirements: No SAT/ACT required, no letters of recommendation, and no essay.
University of California (UC) โ UC Application
Requirements: No SAT/ACT required, no letters of recommendation. Requires four Personal Insight Questions (PIQs).
Private & Out-of-State Colleges โ The Common Application (Common App)
Requirements: Varies by institution. May require SAT/ACT scores, letters of recommendation, and personal essays/supplemental prompts.
๐Library Nights
Library Nights Start September 9!
Library Nights officially resume on Tuesday, September 9, and will run every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon.
If your student needs extra academic support or a dedicated space to study, certified teachers and student tutors will be available to help them stay on track.
Please encourage your student to drop in!
SAT and ACT ๐
If your student still needs to take the SAT or ACT, there is still time! However, please keep in mind that December is the final deadline for students to secure and submit scores for college admissions or scholarship applications.
Visit our SAT/ACT for registration links, upcoming test dates, and preparation resources.
Important Reminder: Neither the California State University (CSU) nor the University of California (UC) systems consider SAT or ACT scores for admission decisions or scholarship consideration.
Letters of recommendation and Brag Sheets ๐
If your student needs a teacher recommendation for college, they must submit a Brag Sheet at least one month before the deadline. This helps teachers write a detailed, personalized letter highlighting your student's accomplishments inside and outside the classroom.
Steps for Students:
Fill out a Brag Sheet (choose the one that best fits your application platform):
Submit it to your teacher at least 30 days before the due date.
Send a thank-you note after the letter is submitted to show appreciation for their time!
Counselor Recommendation & Brag Sheet
Does your student need a letter of recommendation from their school counselor? Please ensure they submit a completed Brag Sheet to myself or Mrs. Noriega at least one month prior to their college or scholarship deadline. This allows us the necessary time to write a thorough, personalized letter.
Senior Portraits
Senior portraits must be taken by October 31st to be included in the yearbook. Students should check their school email for detailed instructions and information on booking their appointment with OโConnor Photography. It is highly recommended that everyone gets their picture BEFORE 10/1/26 so that they have time to review and pick their photo. Don't Delay!
