Elementary Highlights
From the Principal:
There is more to school than math and reading. Every day, our students are actively working on listening to their peers, respecting boundaries, advocating for themselves, and showing kindness to others—even when they are different or aren't necessarily close friends.
Recently, we have seen so many students excelling in these skills, from collaborative learning in the classroom to including everyone in games at recess. Our students are also doing a great job respecting our school community and keeping our common areas clean. Many have been caught cleaning up after themselves, and several have gone above and beyond by pitching in to clean up small messes left behind by others.
As the weather begins to change, please remember to send your child to school dressed in layers so they stay comfortable. We love taking our students outside to enjoy the fresh air and run around, and we will continue heading outdoors as long as the "feels like" temperature is 19 degrees or higher.
Thank you to our families at home for partnering with us, and to our dedicated staff who show up every day to help our students thrive as well-rounded individuals.

Options Weekly Update
From building bridges and learning to be good friends to cooking, our Supplemental Workshop Facilitators are making learning fun! This quarter, we’re highlighting three of them:
Meet Peg! New this year, Peg is off to a fabulous start! She brings a wealth of knowledge, fresh ideas, and a love of having fun.
Meet Torre! In her fourth year with us, Torre shares her curiosity and joy of learning with students. She also leads our ASB, helping students learn to run a business!
Meet Katie! Teaching with us for three years, Katie brings a light that kids naturally gravitate toward. She schools her own boys at home and shares her love of adventure through fun, student-centered classes.
Our facilitators design classes around student interests and their own passions. We love giving families who school at home the opportunity to send their students for hands-on learning, fun with peers, breakfast and lunch on the main campus—and recess! Thank you, Peg, Torre, and Katie!
Athletics
Nutrition Services
We’re celebrating locally grown Opal apples in our school meals! We love being able to bring locally produced foods to our students and continue finding ways to connect our school meals with the farmers and producers in our community.
A Little Student Creativity!
Our student helper brought some extra fun to the commons this week with a very important question: What is the proper way for dogs to wear pants? Students got to weigh in by placing their trays above their preferred answer posters. We love seeing our students get creative and find fun ways to bring more laughter into the school day!
Calling Local Beef Producers!
We’re interested in finding ways to bring more locally produced beef into our school meals! Our goal is to incorporate ground beef from local producers into our menus on a regular basis. Are you a local rancher or beef producer interested in supplying ground beef for our school meal program? We’d love to hear from you! Please complete our Local Ground Beef Producer Request for Information form using the link below. We look forward to learning more about the local producers in our community and exploring opportunities to bring more local beef to our students.
Transportation Update
National School Bus Safety Week
More than 25 million children are transported to and from school on big yellow buses. Despite the number of miles school buses travel, accidents are infrequent. School buses are considered to be the safest motor vehicles on the road. Even though this is good news, accidents do happen.
The majority of accidents to children happen while in the “Danger Zone” of the bus. The danger zone is 10 feet in front, 10 feet behind, and 10 on either side of the bus.
Here are this week's core safety rules to always remember and follow:
(S.A.F.E. acronym)
-Stay back 10 giant steps away from the curb or road while waiting.
-Always wait for a complete stop and the driver's signal before stepping close.
-Face forward and stay seated quietly on the bus.
-Exit safely by walking 5 steps ahead of the bus, making eye contact with the driver, and waiting for their signal before crossing.
(For Motorists)
-Stop completely when overhead red lights flash and stop arms are extended (rules apply whether you are behind, meeting, or approaching a bus at an intersection).
-Watch closely in school zones, around neighborhoods, and near designated stops where children may be walking or biking.
The week-long observance offers a reminder to all parents, teachers, students, motorists, and school bus operators about the importance of following the law and implementing school bus safety tips. Parents should be able to trust that when their child gets on the school bus, there is no need to worry about their safety. Following school bus safety rules helps keep every child safe.
Security Update
A reminder to families that electric and gas-powered motorized transportation, including e-bikes, is not permitted to be ridden on school property.
Students may ride their e-bikes or other motorized transportation to school, but they must dismount as soon as they enter school property and secure their bikes at the bike rack.
For everyone's safety, riding these vehicles on school property is prohibited before, during, and after school hours, including at after-school activities and sporting events.
Thank you for helping us keep our campus safe for all students, staff, and visitors!
