Rogers Beat
Week of August 31st, 2026
Rogers Families,
I hope everyone has had a great weekend! All families should have received a Minga email yesterday showing how many passes and for how long your student was out of class last week. This email will be sent on each Saturday moving forward throughout the year. Minga is our hall pass system and is used for different types of passes or reasons a student would leave class. Students are expected to create the pass in class from the computer and stop the pass when they return to class. Some reports early on may show a large amount of time out of class for very few passes. This is normally because the student did not stop the pass when they returned to class. Once the process becomes routine that won't happen much. We believe that sharing this information will strengthen the partnership between home and school and help guardians get a better glimpse into their students school day and how much instruction they might be missing. The purpose is informational only and to maybe create some conversation at home.
If your student is a bus rider we will be sharing information soon regarding the student bus id's, specifically the expectations and when they will be passed out.
On the 31st of each month will wear a college or trade school shirt in recognition of our 8th grade class - The Class of 2031! Make sure to wear your favorite college or trade school shirt tomorrow.
If you're looking to catch our students in action we have a few opportunities this week:
8/31 - Cross Country @ PHS
9/1 - Football vs Jones (scrimmage)
9/3 - Volleyball vs Moseley
Have a great week!
Learn Boldly. Lead Fiercely. Wildcat Pride!

Rogers Yearbook recognized
Last Monday Mrs. Tokarczyk and last year's yearbook staff were recognized at the PISD School Board meeting for having last year's yearbook selected as one of the top 11 yearbooks in the country! This recognition means it will be sold to schools nationwide as an example of yearbook excellence. This is the 2nd time that she has had a yearbook selected for this honor. Congratulations to her and last year's staff for achieving such an honor - especially as a middle school!
Bradley Bamford (WGHS 9th grader) was also highlighted for his picture that won 1st place in the Jostens North America Photography Contest - Middle School Division!! Out of 3,300 entries, Bradley's photo "Pinned on Victory" won. This is a huge international honor for Bradley, Rogers and Prosper ISD.
Excellence is our standard at Rogers - thank you Mrs. Tokarczyk for being a great example of that!
Counseling Corner🎓
Rogers Middle School Counseling Survey
Throughout the year, our school counselors work closely with students, staff, parents, and the community to ensure that our students are supported in every aspect of their development. Our focus is on promoting academic success, fostering personal, social, and emotional growth, and preparing students for college and career readiness.
In the Google Form, you will find some information about the roles and responsibilities of the school counselors and the services they provide. We ask that you take a few moments to answer the questions that follow. Your feedback is invaluable to us and plays a crucial role in shaping our counseling program to better meet the needs of our students.

SCRIPPS NATIONAL SPELLING BEE SIGN UPS
It is time to sign up to participate in the Scripp's National Spelling Bee. Rogers Middle School is proud to have had the #6 speller in the NATION last year from the 10 million students who participated!
Participation in the Spelling Bee is for any student in grades 3 - 8.
The 2026-2027 Prosper ISD Spelling Bee will take place in several levels.
At the first level, campuses will host a written test. Roger's written spelling test will take place during school hours in advisory class on Wednesday, Oct 7th.
The top 20 (maybe more if there are ties) students from this test will compete in the Campus Spelling Bee held on the evening of November 4th in a traditional Spelling Bee oral format. Invitations for this event will be sent to those individual students who qualify for the Bee.
The Champion from each campus will advance to the District Spelling Bee on December 10, 2026.
The top 6 students from Prosper ISD will advance to the Collin County Spelling Bee held in February 2027.
The top 3-6 students at the Collin County Bee will advance to the Dallas Regional Bee. From there, winners will advance to the National Bee.
Please check the message at the end of the google form for a link to the study words and a link to download an app to help with studying. Per the rules, we can not post these publicly.
By completing this form, you are giving your permission for your child to participate in the Prosper ISD Scripp's National Spelling Bee preliminary contests and for your child to represent Prosper ISD in the contest should your student advance. Additionally, by completing this form, you acknowledge that your child's name and image may be used by Prosper ISD and the Scripp's National Spelling Bee organization when acknowledging winners and grant permission for that use.
PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM SEPARATELY FOR EACH STUDENT THAT YOU WANT TO SIGN UP FOR THE BEE who is enrolled in Prosper ISD in grades 3 - 8!
