WMCTC Weekly Update
Volume 3
WMCTC Weekly Newsletter Vol.5
The Principals Post
As we move past the opening weeks of the school year, the initial “honeymoon phase” has wrapped up, and our students are truly settling into their daily school groove. It has been fantastic seeing our hallways and technical programs buzzing with energy as students become more comfortable with their instructors, build friendships with peers across sending districts, and master their daily routines.
With that familiarity and comfort, however, can come the temptation to let our guard down. We want to take a moment to ask for your partnership in reminding our students of the expectations that keep our community safe and supportive. A great day starts the moment students step onto the bus and does not end until they arrive home safely. Please take a few minutes this week to remind them about proper bus etiquette, which means remaining seated, keeping aisles clear, following driver instructions, and treating fellow riders with courtesy and kindness. The bus is a shared space, and positive interactions in transit set the tone for the entire school day.
Every single day at WMCTC is an opportunity to practice professionalism, self-discipline, and mutual respect. Because our programs are designed to be direct bridges to future careers, apprenticeships, and higher education, we hold our students to workplace standards. That means arriving prepared to work, communicating maturely through disagreements, and treating peers and instructors with dignity. When students are on the bus, in their shops, or out in the community, they represent not only themselves and their families, but their trade and our school.
We are so proud of the progress our students are already making, and we want everyone to come to WMCTC with an attitude of work readiness and representing themselves with pride. Thank you for your continued partnership in helping our students bring their best selves to school every day!
Our annual Fall Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) meeting takes place on October 22nd. These committees rely on the expertise of business and industry partners, parents, alumni, and students to ensure our training stays current and impactful.
If you are interested in serving on an OAC for your student's program or acting as an industry representative, please contact Mrs. Petters at ext. 207 or at epetters@westerncenter.org for an invitation.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Colyer and Mrs. Petters
