Thomson Walk-a-Thon! π
Walk-a-Thon! FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 25TH!
Get ready for our annual Thomson Walk-a-Thon, a PTO-sponsored event! Weather permitting, the Walk-a-Thon will be held outside at the Cardinal Stadium Track. All students will have the chance to walk around the track and show their Thomson Teddy spirit.
Each student will receive their very own Thomson Teddy neon shirt to wear on the day of the event. A note was sent home on a blue half-sheet of paper asking you to circle your child's shirt size. If you have not done so yet, please be sure to send the note back to school.
Parents and family members are warmly invited to join us and cheer on the students. You can support the Thomson Teddies by sitting in the bleachers or standing on the outside of the fenced areas.
We look forward to seeing you there and making this event a fun and memorable day for everyone!
**REMINDER: If you are chosen to volunteer by the classroom teacher, you will need a volunteer form and copy of your driver license on file with the school. Please call the office at (810) 591-0911 if you have any questions.

Fun to Be Fit! β½ππ
Hi families!
My name is Mrs. Lints, and I am your child's physical education teacher. I have been at Thomson Elementary since 2009, teaching GSRP, kindergarten, and developmental kindergarten. This will be my sixth year teaching physical education, and it is my absolute favorite!
Throughout the year, your child will learn a variety of physical activities while developing teamwork skills and body/spatial awareness.
To ensure your child's safety and success in class, please make sure they wear tennis shoes on their designated gym day. Crocs, sandals, and boots aren't suitable for running and active play. Please check your child's schedule so they are set up for success each week!
I am so excited for this school year and can't wait to work with your children.
Remember: A body in motion stays in motion!
Warmly,
Mrs. Lints

Happy Reading!πππ
Welcome to the Thomson Media Center!
I am so excited to embark on this amazing journey with all of you this school year! Each week, your child will select a book of their choice to take home and enjoy, which should be returned the following week to exchange for a new one. We have a huge selection for them to choose from! During their scheduled library time, students will also participate in interactive story times and engaging table activities. Students will begin to check out books after Labor Day break!
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me at aclemons@davisonschools.org.
Warmly,
Ms. Clemons

π» STEM Class!
Hello Thomson Families!
My name is Ms. Wendy Lockrey, and I teach STEM at both Thomson and Central. This year, I spend my mornings at Central and my afternoons at Thomson, seeing each class once a week.
In STEM class, students will use specialized STEM bins filled with manipulatives to build and practice real engineering skillsβin other words, we learn through play! Students will also get hands-on experience using Chromebook laptops to explore educational websites. Each month, I will share these links with you so your child can continue the fun at home if they choose, as all of the platforms are completely free.
I look forward to meeting and getting to know your Thomson Teddies this year! Because I travel between two schools each day, the best way to reach me is by email at wlockrey@davisonschools.org.
Looking forward to a great school year!

Safety First - Drills @ Thomson!
As we kick off a wonderful new school year, we want to share a quick update on how we keep our school family safe. Throughout the year, our students and staff will practice a variety of routine safety drills, including Fire, Tornado, and ALICE drills.
We know that for many of our youngest learners, this is their very first time in a school setting, and the idea of a "drill" can feel brand new. Please rest assured that we handle every practice with immense care, gentle encouragement, and age-appropriate explanations.
Before and during every drill, we emphasize to our students that they are safe and that we are just practicing. Just like learning to tie our shoes or practice fire safety at home, these rehearsals simply help us know what to do so everyone stays calm, confident, and prepared in the unlikely event of a real emergency.
Thank you for trusting us with your little ones. We are looking forward to a safe, happy, and growth-filled year together!
