District 300 broke ground June 4 on the Dundee-Crown Additions and Renovations Project, a major facility initiative designed to address growing student enrollment, modernize learning environments, and improve the overall student experience at Dundee-Crown High School.

Planned improvements at Dundee-Crown include:

  • Enhancements to Career and Technical Education programming and spaces
  • The expansion and renovation of the cafeteria and commons spaces
  • Additional classroom space
  • Upgrades to the kitchen and food service areas
  • And the construction of a new modern main entrance to the building

The project is intended to proactively address anticipated enrollment growth, while improving the functionality and flow of high-use student spaces throughout the building.

Located at 1500 Kings Road in Carpentersville, Dundee-Crown served 2,391 students during the 2025-26 school year and is projected to serve 2,458 students this upcoming school year.

The facility, which dates back to 1964, has an enrollment capacity of approximately 2,500 students.

Set to occur in three phases, the Dundee-Crown Additions and Renovations Project is expected to start this June and conclude in July 2029. Phase one will be the construction of a new Career and Technical Education wing that is expected to open for students during the 2027-28 school year.

Subsequent phases will include the addition of a new administration suite, cafeteria, media center, and modern main entryway for the building, followed by the renovation of the existing cafeteria into classroom space.

Students will remain in the building throughout construction, and no interruption to daily school operations is anticipated.

In addition to expanded instructional and student spaces, the project also includes improvements in safety, technology, and sustainability. Planned upgrades include enhanced camera systems, improved access control, updated classroom technology infrastructure, and the incorporation of solar power to support long-term energy efficiency.

The project was approved by the District 300 Board of Education on May 19.

Additional updates regarding construction timelines and project milestones will be shared with families and the community as work progresses.
