Principal's Message
Yowell Families,
What an amazing start to our school year! Our first three days have been filled with smiles, hugs, and the best kind of busy! It is such a joy to see everyone back where they belong!
Chromebook Protection Plan – CCPS is offering a protection plan for students in grades 1–5. For $30, it covers two accidental breakages for the school year. In this newsletter, you’ll find the repair prices if you do not have the plan. This is only available through August 28, so please act soon if you’re interested.
Evacuation Drill – This week, we’ll practice our fire evacuation drill. We will announce the drill ahead of time so students know it’s just practice and can be ready.
Dismissal Reminders – Please send all dismissal changes to the office by 2:30 p.m. so we have time to prepare passes and deliver them to classrooms. All early pickups must be completed by 3:00 p.m. After that, we will direct families to our curbside line.
Bus Departures = As bus routes settle into a routine, please check the CCPS Dismissal Log daily to see the exact time your child left Yowell. (It’s updated live — save the link to your phone for quick access!)
We are so grateful to have your support in making Yowell such a special place. Thank you for sharing your amazing kids with us each day!

🎵🎵🎵 You can join the 5th-Grade Band!!! 🎵🎵🎵
Welcome Back, 5th-Graders and Families!
We are pleased to invite you to join the 5th-Grade Band! This is a wonderful opportunity to learn to play an instrument before you begin middle school. We are very excited to allow students to physically try the instruments before selecting which one to play! The instrument choices are Flute, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone, and Baritone. Classes begin the week of September 15th with instruments! Class schedules for each school are provided below.

Transportation Information
In an effort to assist schools and parents with current information about bus changes, transportation has added a new item on their website called: Transportation - Morning Update. The direct link can be found here. Also, this is the direct link to transportation.
Parents of students Pre-K through Grade 3 are expected to meet their children at the bus stop. Failure to do so will result in the child(ren) being returned to school. Should you choose to allow your child(ren) to be dropped off without supervision in the afternoon, please fill out and return this document.
We will be posting departure times for buses each day to assist parents with receiving their child from the bus stop. Please check this document each afternoon.
If your student requires transportation assistance, call the Transportation Department at 540-825-5446 or email them at transportation@ccpsweb.org
School Resource Officer (SRO)
We are happy to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) this year at Yowell. You can contact Deputy Brandon Mack with any concerns you have with school safety or anything that would be related to criminal activity.
