WVHS Planetarium Family Night - Friday, October 13
One Friday night a month during the school year, the WVHS Planetarium invites the community to Family Nights. These live, multimedia lecture-like programs are created to be educational and entertaining for everyone (not just families). All Family Nights include looking at the planetarium's night sky, which is a memorable experience for every visitor.
Join NASA Solar System Ambassador, Stephanie Rybka, on Friday October 13 for a planetarium program about upcoming solar eclipses on October 14 and April 8. Programs start at 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Purchase tickets online at planetarium.ipsd.org.
Recognize an Outstanding Staff Member
Submit an A+ Award nomination for an exceptional teacher or staff member that has made an impact on you or your child. The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation (IPEF) is proud to recognize outstanding staff members who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of our students. One staff member will be recognized each month and awarded a check for $500! All submitted essays are shared with the nominees on a monthly basis. Nominations will be kept for consideration until the end of the current school year. Nominees must currently work in the district.
To nominate someone who is making a difference, visit A+ Award Program.
Safety & Security Information
Indian Prairie School District utilizes standard language throughout the district for situations that may arise within our schools. It is helpful for parents/guardians to be aware of the terminology used in our Classroom Action Guide.
ALICE! ALICE! ALICE!: a potentially violent intruder is present in a school
Hold in Place and Teach: a situation INSIDE the building that requires immediate action for all to stay put. This is non-life threatening to the general population and school community. (Example: student or staff requires medical attention, and the halls need to be kept clear for first responders)
Secure the Building and Teach: There is a hazard OUTSIDE of the building that requires all persons to remain inside the school. (Example: law enforcement responding to a neighborhood disturbance)
Evacuation: There is an unsafe situation inside requiring everyone to exit the building. (Example: fire, chemical spill, gas leak)
Severe Weather: Severe weather that has the potential of causing structural damage. Students are directed to a shelter location within the school.
For more safety information, please visit the IPSD Safety Webpage.
