School Board Members at MSBA Assembly

Charlotte Nitardy and Katie Swor, members of the ISD 622 School Board, joined more than 100 fellow board members from across Minnesota on Friday, December 5, and Saturday, December 6, to participate in the Minnesota School Boards Association’s 2025 Delegate Assembly.

The Delegate Assembly is MSBA’s grassroots advocacy body — an annual meeting where locally elected school board members come together to debate, refine, and adopt the legislative positions that contribute to MSBA’s advocacy at the State Capitol.

Through this collaborative process, board members play a direct and influential role in shaping statewide education advocacy. Delegates identify shared priorities, discuss emerging challenges, and consider solutions that support students, staff, and communities across Minnesota. The adopted positions form the foundation of MSBA’s legislative agenda for the upcoming session and serve as the collective voice of Minnesota’s 333 public school districts.

Four Generations, One Community

Let us introduce Jim Nippoldt and family — Jim a longtime District 622 resident, Gladstone Painting Pals member, and proud great-grandfather. Jim grew up in our district, raised his family here, and now his great-grandson is attending ECFE classes in the very same building on the same day Jim comes in to paint.

Their story is a beautiful reminder of how Community Education connects people of all ages — from our youngest learners to our lifelong creators. https://youtu.be/iuA8kuWXMws

Measles and the MMR vaccine

Minnesota has identified cases of measles in children who recently returned to the U.S. after traveling internationally. The decline in measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine coverage, coupled with the increase in measles disease nationally and internationally, puts Minnesota at risk of additional measles cases and a measles outbreak.

MDH has information about measles and the MMR vaccine: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/measles/measlesfacts.html

If your child has any symptoms, please contact your medical provider and school nurse.
