Virtue of the Month - Empathy
In October, we celebrate the virtue of empathy. God wants us to understand and care about
others. God has given us the ability to form connections with each other - to live together.
Empathy helps us to connect and live together in safe, caring, inclusive communities.
An empathetic person...
- listens when people speak
- notices when someone is upset and tries to help
- can name his/her feelings
- can see a situation from another person’s point of view
- accepts that others have different perspectives
Upcoming Events and Activities
Event Information
There will be a mandatory meeting for all Grade 7 parents on Wednesday, October 15th. This meeting will include important information about preparing your child for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
The students will then participate in an enrolment Mass the following Sunday at 8:30 AM.
Grade 7 Parents: Please plan to attend the Meeting on October 15th and Mass on October 19th.
3 - Way Conferences
As part of St. Michael's ongoing efforts to keep you informed of your child's learning experiences, we have scheduled time for the teachers to meet with parents and students to discuss learning goals for the year.
These 3-way conferences will take place on Thursday, October 23rd, between the hours of 9 AM and 6 PM. There will be no regular classes that day as teachers will be meeting with families all day.
Students are to attend their conference, wearing their school uniform at their scheduled time. Each conference will take approximately 15 minutes. We are using an online scheduling system to set up appointment times.
Online Scheduling
Opens Thursday, October 9th at 7 AM
Closes Sunday, October 19th at 10 PM
If you do not schedule an appointment, teachers will allocate time for you from their remaining time slots.
Reading Club
Notices have been handed out to students in Grades 1-7 who are interested in participating in the Reading Club this year. Please keep the calendar at home until the end of January, when they are to be handed in. Students who hand in their calendars at the end of January will receive a small prize for their efforts. A new calendar for February to May will be given later. Happy Reading!

Student Safety on the Playground
While we encourage families to stay, socialize, and play on the playground after school, we must ask that no ball games are played near the playground (at the basketball hoops, picnic tables, or by the garden) during drop-off and pick-up. Unfortunately, the proximity of the parking lot and the number of cars raises a safety concern.
Parents who wish to stay after school to let their children play must remain on the playground and actively supervise their children.
Thank you for your support in this matter.
