🔥 Disaster Drills 🔥
ESS will be practicing Disaster Drills more regularly. During this time we are asking that parents come before or after the times we announce ahead of time. This avoid pick-up delays as we will be locking the front door until we complete drills. These practice drills are essential in us keeping our students informed and safe. Our next drill will be on Thursday, September 3th at 1:00. Please know the door will be locked for about 20-30mins after 1:00 as we ensure the safety of the kids and that we have accounted for everyone. If you are present during the drill you will be asked to participate as we cannot leave anyone in the building. You may also run back and wait in your car for us to compete the drill.
🚨 Emergency Contacts 🚨
Please make sure to contact us to update or add any new authorized pick-up persons or emergency contacts. You can email us at egrayligsay@powayusd.com. Thank you for helping us keep our records up to date. Emergency Cards are required for the new school year. See us if you need a hardcopy. They were emailed out as well.
IPADS
Please do not let your students sign out on the iPads. They are for parents only, and the signature records are kept for legal purposes.

🚹 Toileting/Extra Clothes 🚺
As part of supporting your child’s growth and independence, we kindly ask that you send an extra change of clothes in their backpack each day. We are happy to store the clothes (labeled) here at ESS for your convenience. Occasional bathroom accidents are a normal part of early learning, and having extra clothes on hand helps your child feel more comfortable and confident.
If your child has an accident and needs assistance cleaning up that we cannot support, we will contact you to come to ESS within 30 minutes to help them. This allows your child to return to their group feeling supported and ready to continue their day.
Thank you for partnering with us as we help students build healthy habits and self-care skills in a nurturing environment.
****If you have any gently used or new items in sizes 4–12, we would greatly appreciate donations of bottoms (underwear and/or pants) to help replenish our extra clothes bin. We are currently in need of both boys’ and girls’ sizes, as our supply is getting quite bare.
Thank you so much for your continued support and generosity—we truly appreciate it!
🔍 Lost and Found 🔎
Looking for a missing item? Please remember to first look for lost items outside of our ESS building. New items are placed outside every evening. Items are moved to the school's larger Lost and Found every Friday. If items are labeled it will assist us in finding their owner. We suggest checking the hooks and window ledge regularly.
Double check that your student's items are labelled. We see a lot of items with faded stickers or worn off patches.
Every Friday, we take the Lost & Found and add it to the school's large one by the lunch tables.

🍎 Snack 🍎
Snack is subject to change based on availability and supplies. We provide 2 daily snack options for students during check-in. We ask that you pack and label additional snacks specifically for ESS. We can not always accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions but we do our best to provide options for all students. Some students who stay late often state that they are hungry, please plan for this by packing additional snacks.
