January 2026 News From The Elementary Office
A MESSAGE FROM THE ELEMENTARY OFFICE
Dear ACES Families:
We have had a wonderful first week back at school! Thank you for partnering with us so intentionally by sending your children well-rested, prepared, and ready to learn. We truly appreciate your support in providing appropriate outdoor clothing, daily supplies, and consistent routines at home — these small details make a big difference in your child’s confidence, comfort, and success at school. Your partnership matters more than you know, and together we are setting the tone for a joyful, productive, and successful year of growth for our Jets!
Warmly,
Mary McCullough
TRUST-BASED RELATIONAL INTERVENTION (TBRI)
Navigating Other People’s Flipped Lid
• Remember, since everyone has a stress response system, we will all flip our lids: educators, parents, and children.
• Application at Home (if desired):
1. Be aware that the other person is in a threat response.
2. Stay regulated yourself. This is essential for staying in the part of the brain that supports healthy communication,
problem solving, rational thinking, connection, empathy, compassion, etc.
3. Help the other person regulate or find someone who can. Once regulated, you can reconnect in relationship with that
person, who can then talk through what happened, redo the behavior, and repair any ruptures.
• Optional: Watch Video
Virtual Learning Days
FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE
It’s hard to believe winter is here, and with it comes cold and flu season. Please remember that if
your child has a temperature of 100°F or higher, they should stay home. This helps reduce the
spread of germs and viruses throughout the school.
If your student has borrowed clothing from the nurse’s clinic, please return those items at your
earliest convenience, as we tend to run low on certain sizes.
We will be conducting another drill for the Project ADAM Heart Safe Program in preparation
for our redesignation on February 6. More information will be shared as the date approaches.
As always, if you have any questions, please contact the nurse’s clinic. Enjoy the school break
and time with your loved ones. We look forward to seeing you in 2026!
Donna Barger, School Nurse
