All The Saints
Saints are people who point us to God. They are like rays of light shining the way on our path. They light up your life, inspire you to be a better person, and inspire you to share your light with the world. Saints are living here on earth or in heaven. In an all-school chapel to celebrate All Saints Day on Monday, Nov 2nd students will adorn an enormous sun made by our art teacher, Mrs. Bennett, with their beautifully decorated “rays of light” stickers to remember the saints in their lives. You are welcome to join us for chapel that morning at 8:00 a.m.
This All Saints project was inspired by this year’s scripture: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; God’s mercies are new every morning” Lamentations 3:22-23. Saints remind us that God’s mercy is never-ending and is new every morning, just like the light of the sun is never-ending and reminds us to start our new day.
We will honor & celebrate our veteran saints on Veterans Day, Wednesday, Nov. 11th at 8:00 a.m. in big chapel. Students are invited to bring a veteran family member or special friend to chapel that morning. Please RSVP here. Veterans are invited to a reception in the Parlor starting at 7:30 a.m.
Another way to honor the Saints and fulfill our mission is to love and serve our neighbors. Our annual holiday food drive, running Nov. 2nd - 20th, will benefit Good Samaritan Community Services. See flyer below for the specific food item your student’s grade level should donate. Once all the food is collected, every student will help stuff the food bags, and our middle school Student Voice will deliver them to Good Sam in December. We hope to donate 250 bags total. This is a collaboration with St. Luke’s Church.

Week 10: Parents and Teachers Are on the Same Team
This semester, Rachel Sanborn’s Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Snapshot will feature weekly, parent-friendly takeaways from Jessica Lahey’s book The Gift of Failure. Mrs. Sanborn, along with Student Achievement Coordinator, Donna Finch will wrap up the series with a book talk at the December 1st Parent Council Coffee.
When our children struggle at school, it can be tempting to immediately advocate, intervene, or try to make things easier. Lahey encourages parents and teachers to work together to build responsibility and independence, rather than unintentionally creating dependence. Instead of asking, “What can we do to fix this?” we might ask, “What can my child learn from this experience, and how can we support them?” A strong parent-teacher partnership keeps the focus on helping children become capable, responsible learners.
