Wyneken Weekly Parent Note

Wow, I can’t believe it’s November already! Where is the time going? Next week is a busy one with testing, field trips, parent teacher conferences, and new landscaping going in around the building. We’re so proud of what’s happening inside our walls, and we’re looking forward to making the outside look just as good. Please take a few minutes to read through this newsletter. We work hard to include only the info you really need. There is a great offer included for a free book. I'll be honest I just ordered mine but from what other Lutheran Administrators are saying it is a game changer. Please take this opportunity to request your free copy.

Heads up: ILEARN Checkpoint 1 Is Next Week!
Students in grades 3–8 will take ILEARN Checkpoint 1 next week. Please make sure your kids are getting plenty of sleep and starting each day with a good breakfast.

There’s no need for anyone to stress over this one. It gives our teachers a clear picture of where each student is so we know how to support them for the rest of the year.

Make-Up Day Due to flooding school was not in session on September 18th. We will plan on making this day up on Wednesday November 25th. This will be a virtual learning day to provide flexibility for families that may be out of town for the holiday. All e-learning work will go home with students Friday November 20th or be available via google classroom.

Volunteers Needed: Landscaping Day, Saturday, Nov 7 at 9:00 AM. We’re putting in new landscaping at Wyneken and we need your help. More hands means the job gets done faster and costs less. Bring gloves and a shovel if you have them. Even an hour helps! Let the office know you’re coming so we have a headcount.

Veterans Day Program: Tuesday, Nov 10 at 1:00 PM. Families are invited to join us as our students honor those who have served. Do you have a veteran in your family? We want to recognize them. Send their name and branch of service to your child’s teacher by Friday, Nov 6.

Easter egg hunt! The 🕵🏼‍♀️ is hiding somewhere new this week (this one doesn't count!) . Email us or stop by the office when you find it for a small treat.

The Warrior Way: Respect God · Respect Others · Respect Learning

Our second quarter chapel offerings being collected to sponsor our Christmas families through the Lutheran Social Services. We are given this opportunity each year to share our blessings with those who are less fortunate. The chapel offerings will be used to purchase gift cards for gifts and food.

Wyneken Singers: Now is a great time to consider joining Wyneken Singers! We just started all new music, focusing on special Advent and Christmas selections for chapel and the school Christmas Program. Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 2:15-2:45. Wyneken Singers is geared towards students 3rd grade and older that show great effort and focus in choir class. Text Allison (361-236-5507) if your child is interested in joining!

If you had a credit remaining from last year, good news, it's already been carried over into your prepay account.

Below is next week's lunch menu.

Winter Sports Updates

Winter sports seasons are underway. A reminder that starting this winter season, volunteer slots will be assigned to participating student athletes' families instead of using SignUp Genius. If you are assigned for a night, you are expected to be present or to coordinate with other families to find your own replacement.

Practice schedules and tentative game schedules are listed in EventLink.

Please reach out with any questions.

Thanks,

James Fuhrmann
