πŸ‚ Fall-Themed Learning - Friday, October 31st 🍁

In an effort to be inclusive of ALL Roosevelt School students, our staff will be implementing fall-themed activities into classroom lessons on Friday, October 31st, as we recognize that some of our students do not celebrate Halloween. Students are welcome (but not required) to wear school-appropriate costumes next Friday, October 31st! πŸŽƒ

**Please note that if you choose to keep your child home that day, the absence will NOT be excused! Just a reminder that students who miss more than 18 days of school for ANY reason (excused OR unexcused) are considered chronically absent!

πŸ‘— Costume Guidelines

  • Costumes must be school/age-appropriate and safe
  • No costume masks, face paint, excessive hair dye, body paint, weapons/accessories, OR fake blood
  • Costumes should not interfere with learning activities, PE/Specials, lunch/recess, or students’ ability to use the bathroom independently

🍭 Please remember:

  • No candy is permitted at school!
  • The school will provide each student with a fall treat through Aramark. This will include juice boxes, pretzels, and apple slices. If you do not want your child to have a snack, please reach out to your child's teacher directly.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, inclusive, and fun day for all of our Roosevelt Colts! πŸ’™πŸ’›

πŸ’» 4th Grade - New Jersey Student Learning Assessment Adaptive Field Test πŸ“ πŸ’» 4th Grade - New Jersey Student Learning Assessment Adaptive Field Test πŸ“

October 2025

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA) Adaptive Field Test will be administered to all fourth-grade students at Roosevelt School on Wednesday, October 29, and Thursday, October 30, 2025. Testing will take place each morning for approximately two hours.

This Adaptive Field Test is part of the New Jersey Department of Education’s effort to pilot new, computer-adaptive items that may be used in future NJSLA assessments. The purpose of the field test is to ensure that the questions are fair, accessible, and appropriately measure grade-level standards. While individual student scores will not be reported, participation helps improve the quality and accuracy of future statewide assessments.

To help your child do their best, please:

  • Ensure that your child arrives to school on time each testing day.

  • Encourage a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast.

  • Remind your child to bring their fully charged Chromebook each day.

  • Reassure your child that this assessment is simply an opportunity to try their best and help the state improve the test for all students.

We appreciate your partnership in supporting our students as they participate in this important statewide initiative. If you have any questions about the NJSLA Adaptive Field Test, please contact your child’s teacher or the main office.

Sincerely,

Kelli Eppley
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction

A little throwback to our 3rd graders adventures at Duke Farms from October 15th!

Our 3rd graders enjoyed a hands-on day of exploring nature at Duke Farms! Students observed the stream, meadow, and wetlands while learning how plants and animals adapt to each habitat. They listened for wildlife, found signs of pollinators, and noticed how these environments help keep our water and community healthy. πŸ’šπŸŒŽ
