BULLDOG BULLETIN
May 9, 2025
Dear Bulldog Families,
On behalf of our entire staff, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for the incredible outpouring of appreciation you showed during Teacher Appreciation Week! From the generous gifts and thoughtful notes to the delicious treats, chair massage, and the amazing donut wall, your kindness made our staff feel truly celebrated.
The lounge looked fantastic—festively decorated with the fun circus theme—and every detail, from the décor to the themed treats, was thoughtful and uplifting. Our teachers felt the love and support from our parent community all week long, and we are so grateful.
A special thank you as well for recognizing Nurse Autumn during Nurse’s Appreciation Week. Her dedication to the well-being of our students and staff means so much, and your kind gestures did not go unnoticed.
We are incredibly lucky to be part of such a generous, caring, and supportive community. Thank you again for helping make this a memorable week for our teachers and staff. Sarah Adams truly is a special place.
Warm regards,
Dr. Colleen Conway

Student Spotlight!
Third Grade Field Trip to Raupp Museum and Nature Center
This week we visited the Raupp Museum and Nature Center. We learned about animals in their habitats and plants during the nature class and nature walk. At the museum, the kind lady gave us a scavenger hunt to complete. We had to find things in the museum. We saw old clocks, a typewriter, a telephone, a record player, an old washing machine, and other old items. Next, we went to the nature center. We learned about adaptive traits that help a squirrel survive. Did you know a squirrel can turn its feet 180 degrees? We learned about the different colors of squirrels. Finally, we went on a nature walk. We learned that the roots of plants and trees are as long as the tree is tall. We saw where beavers had been working. We also saw a big tree that was protecting a little tree. We learned how trees can protect themselves with thorns and fuzz. Thank you to our amazing PTO for generously supporting our field trip. We had a great time and learned so much.

Health Update: Tick Information
As we approach the end of the school year and are spending more time outdoors as a learning community, I wanted to share some important health information - as there has been a noted increase in our area.
Tick Information
Ticks are small arachnids (similar to a spider or a mite), that have multiple pairs of legs and no antennae. Ticks feed on host animals, and can carry diseases. There are several species of ticks that have been identified in Illinois, each with slightly different features. Further information related to tick identification, removal, and steps to prevent tick bites is provided below.
Tick Identification (Illinois Department of Public Health)
Tick Removal (Lake County Health Department)
Fight the Bite (Lake County Health Department)
Health Office Support
If your student is identified as having a tick bite during the school day, Health Office staff are equipped to remove the tick. Parents/guardians will be notified that a tick was removed in these situations. Health Office staff are also prepared to save the tick, should families wish to obtain it/take it to their healthcare provider.
We will continue to be vigilant of ticks during the school day, and ask that our families do the same at home. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any further questions you may have.
Tree Planting Event
As part of the district’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and to creating learning opportunities for students that highlight environmental responsibility (part of the District 95 Portrait of a Graduate), the district is partnering with TreePlenish to host a tree-planting event on May 14, 2025 (with the weather back-up date being May 15, 2025).
We would like to extend an invitation to families and community members who may have interest in supporting the event, space permitting. If you are interested in supporting the event and receiving further details, please complete the form linked HERE.
