Principal Batten's Weekly Message
Good evening V3A students, families, and staff. This is Dr. Batten, Principal of Vance Virtual Village Academy with your Huskies Weekly News: https://v3a.online/HWN
This is the 9th week of school and the final week to turn in Q1 work (due by Friday, October 24th). This is also the free Application Week for seniors applying to NC colleges and universities. Our 10th-grade students take the PreACT test at V3A on Tuesday (Oct 21). Students needing bus transportation for the PreACT should sign-up online by 5pm Monday. https://v3a.online/bus. Tuesday is also the first "Get Empowered" SEL Zoom class led by NuMe Counseling. Students interested in participating MUST have a parent/guardian signed consent form (Google Docs, PDF) turned in to participate. Students who have signed consent forms will be shared the Zoom link for this awesome program.
We are participating in the Kids Heart Challenge (http://heart.org/schools) to learn more about our hearts, making healthy choices, and how to save others through "hands only" CPR. Sign up TODAY and learn Hands-Only CPR, the warning signs of a stroke and help kids with special hearts by completing Finn’s Mission! Download the AHA Schools app for iPhone or Android and sign up! Next, send 10 emails or texts to family and friends asking for their support! Once you complete Finn’s Mission you’ll receive your own lifesavers cape and be entered to win Super Bowl LXI tickets in 2027!

VV's Where Them Books At-Free Reading Event
On behalf of Varonica “VV” Mitchell and The VV Show Team, we are thrilled to share with your students and families about The VV Show's upcoming Free Community Reading Event:
VV’s Where Them Books At –Free Reading Event
Date: Monday, October 13, 2025
Time: 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: 205 Breckenridge St. Henderson, NC 27536
This event is free and open to school-age children, with a focus on promoting Books Over Bullies!
Event Highlights:
Engaging book readings for grades Pre-K through 6th grade.
Free Italian Ice provided by VV’s Brand Partner Mac Scoops Italian Ice, featuring VV’s signature flavor “The VV Blast.”
Kids will go home with on VV
Opportunity for students to meet and be inspired by Varonica “VV” Mitchell.

Volunteer Applications Available Online
If you have someone interested in becoming a volunteer, they can now complete the application online! It is also still available in paper form. The application can be accessed on the VCS website under Community...or the direct link to the online application is https://bit.ly/VolunteerVCS.
The Process:
1. Application Submission Online (or paper copy turned in to Communications)
2. Applications processed through Communications
3. Background Check initiated by HR
4. Prospective Volunteer completes information from BiB in email
5. HR reviews the results upon BiB completion
6. Communications contact prospective volunteers with results
7. If approved, the volunteer must pick up a badge and is added to the official volunteer list.
Please note, the volunteer application may take up to 2-weeks to process.
