Runyan Elementary

To help expedite the car line and ensure a smoother pickup experience, Runyan staff members will only call names from vehicles in the line on Foster Drive. Please refer to the map below for proper flow of traffic. Please note that we will not be calling cars that are traveling on Cedar Crossing Drive. Parents who do not follow this procedure will be directed to return to the line on Foster Drive so their student can be entered into the system. We appreciate your cooperation!

This procedure helps improve the efficiency of our car rider line and reduce wait times for everyone. All cars should be entering Foster Dr. from 1314/Porter Rd. Also, we ask that you do not use private property such as private driveways to turn around when getting in the car rider line.

Backpacks:

• Students should bring their backpack every day to school.
• They should have two backpack tags (Smart tag and regular tag).
• It's important to keep both tags attached to their backpack as we use them for dismissal daily.
• When students do not have a tag, they slow down our dismissal procedures resulting in late buses or waiting longer in car rider line.

Cell phone use during car rider line :

• For the safety of all our students and staff, we kindly remind you to refrain from using your cell phone while in the car rider line. Distracted driving can lead to accidents, and we want to ensure that dismissal time is as safe and efficient as possible.
• Please remain focused on the road and on the surroundings as you wait to pick up your child. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in helping us maintain a secure environment for everyone. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.

School Hours:

• School hours are 7:55 to 3:10 again this year.
• Instruction will begin promptly at 7:55. Students who arrive after 7:55 will be counted tardy.
• Doors open at 7:25 the first three days.

Tardy Students

• After the first week of school, students must arrive before 7:55AM to be on time to class.
• Students arriving after 7:55AM must be checked in by a parent or guardian in the front office.
• Students eating breakfast at school should arrive no later than 7:45AM

Early Start:

• In an effort to reduce volume on the morning car rider line and to support parents needing earlier drop off, limited staff will be available to receive students starting at 7:10 AM on Monday, August 18th.
• Students will sit in the cafeteria and wait until regular arrival time at 7:25. They will then be released to eat breakfast or go to class.
• Please unload your student as we will have limited staff at the door.
• Students with behavior struggles or needing high levels of supervision should not be dropped off at 7:10 AM and should wait until normal drop off at 7:25AM.

Dismissal:

• Dismissal will begin early the first couple of days of school.
• Please be patient as we work through our car rider line process, as parents learn the traffic pattern, and as bus drivers learn their routes.
• All car riders will need the 25-26 car rider sign. If you don’t have one, you will be asked to park and visit the front office to obtain one, then return to the end of the line to pick up your student.
• Our number one priority is for all students arrive to and from school safely.
• Parents can request additional car rider signs, these will be placed in students' backpacks after the second week of school.

Lunch Visitors:

• To allow our students to get acclimated to school and to learn procedures, we will not have any lunch visitors until August 28st.
• Parents are welcome to sign up to come and eat with their child using the same procedures as last year.

School Meals:

• Lunch will not be free for students, unless your family qualify.
• Remember to apply online for free and reduced lunch. Even if your child qualified last year, you need to re-apply every year. APPLY HERE: https://www.myschoolapps.com/
