Jog-A-Thon 2025
Dear Boone Meadow Families -
My apologies for the tardy newsletter—thank you for your patience. As you know, I try to ensure you receive the Friday Flyer on Fridays, but the end of last week was both wonderfully busy and joyfully full doing the good work, which caused a delay. I’m excited to share the celebrations and updates with you now!
This past week was truly special, and we ended on a tremendous high note with sunshine, laughter, and one of our favorite annual traditions: PTO’s Jog-A-Thon 2025! What a success it was!
A heartfelt thank you goes to Libbie Weinheimer and Emily Souert for chairing the Jog-A-Thon committee and orchestrating every thoughtful detail—from decorations to prizes and everything in between. We also extend gratitude to Milissa Hall and her fiancé, Scott Sauceto, for helping coordinate a surprise visit from Indy 500 driver Conor Daly and for securing generous merchandise donations. Conor’s presence was a highlight for many students and families—he signed countless autographs, gave his time generously, and even told me a fun memory about doing snowy night donuts in our BME bus lot during his high school days!
Together, Jog-A-Thon was a beautiful day of community, fun, exercise, and successful fundraising for our school. Thank you, families, for showing up, cheering, donating, and supporting our PTO—it all makes a difference.
As I’ve mentioned over the past couple of weeks, our staff and students have been reviewing and practicing a variety of safety drills. Last week, we carefully revisited all procedures, including lockdown protocols. In the coming week, we will conduct a lockdown practice drill. While these situations are highly unlikely, practicing ensures we are prepared. Please know that our approach is always thoughtful, supportive, and centered on children’s well-being. Safety at Boone Meadow extends beyond drills—it’s about caring for ourselves, one another, and our school environment. You’ll also find an important ZCS safety message included below.

School Safety Message: Caring For Others, Self, and Our Space
Dear Boone Meadow Elementary School Families,
The safety and well-being of our students is, and will always remain, our highest priority. At Boone Meadow Elementary, we believe that safety comes not only from secure procedures but also from nurturing confidence, peace of mind, and a sense of community for every child and family.
As part of this commitment, we will be conducting our required safety drills throughout this school year. Our goal is to equip students with life-long safety practices that empower them to make wise choices in uncertain situations. For example, when teaching our age-appropriate, modified ALICE protocols for lockdowns, one simple guiding phrase we use is: “Go away from danger.”
Our staff carefully designs these lessons to be developmentally appropriate, reassuring, and supportive, ensuring that students feel both safe and confident as they learn. Just as we practice fire and tornado drills to prepare for the unexpected, these safety practices help us build a foundation of peace, preparedness, and resilience.
Thank you for trusting us and the partnership we share in caring for your children. If you ever have questions or would like to know more about our safety practices, please do not hesitate to connect with any member of our Boone Meadow Elementary School team.
With gratitude and assurance,
Tom Hundley
