A Message from Dr. Gough

February 9, 2024

Dear WPS Community,

February 5th held special significance this year, as it marked the 100th day of school. This milestone marks the steady progression of the academic calendar and serves as a reminder of the countless moments of learning, growth, and achievement that have taken place in our classrooms. As we enter the second half of the school year, let’s celebrate our students, educators, and staff who have contributed to making these initial 100 days a foundation for continued success and accomplishment.

Please be reminded that there will be no school February 19th - 23rd (February break).

Congratulations are in Order

Congratulations to Zoie Porcher, who has been chosen to serve as the Project 351 Ambassador for Walpole! Each January, a group of eighth-grade ambassadors representing the 351 cities and towns of Massachusetts begins a transformative year of service and leadership. Ambassadors become one community, one team, one force for extraordinary good. Launch Day is a celebratory day of inspiration and impact as Ambassadors unite to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., inspiring students to come together, take action, and lead.

Kindergarten Registration Reminder

Although the district has sent out notices, please spread the word to your friends and neighbors with kindergarten-age children. Early registration is best, as it helps the district with budget and scheduling.

To pre-register a kindergarten-age-qualified child, a parent or legal guardian must complete the online registration form (scroll down to Kindergarten pre-registration). Kindergarten-age-qualified are children who have turned five (5) years old before September 1 of the school year for which they are pre-registering.

If you are unable to drop off documents to your neighborhood school during the day, the Superintendent's Office (135 School Street, Room 204) is open on Monday and Wednesday 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Tuesday 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM and Friday 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
