From the Superintendent's Desk
D128 School Community Members:
I hope this message finds you well as we move into the final portion of our school year. April has been a whirlwind month for us all. Recently, D128 decided to pause our community engagement efforts aimed at exploring funding options for our building improvement and capital projects. While the pressing needs of our facilities remain, we've chosen to redirect our focus entirely toward our plan to expand access to rigorous coursework for ALL students.
We're deeply committed to our DARING Mission and the shared goal of ensuring every student achieves at high levels and embarks on a meaningful post-secondary journey. Our commitment to collaboration runs deep. We've been listening to the voices of our parents/guardians and teachers who seek more opportunities for meaningful collaboration and input into this plan, and we're dedicated to delivering on that front.
To provide D128 parents/guardians and our Middle School parents/guardians with an overview of the draft plan, as well as an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback, we will host a webinar on April 24 from 7:00 p.m. - 7:45 p.m. See below for complete details. We will also seek additional input from our staff during the coming week.
The revised plan, enriched by this collaborative effort, will be presented to the Board of Education at its April 29 meeting.

D128 Receives National Recognition for Music Education Support
D128 is proud to share that it has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. Now in its 25th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement for providing music access and education to all students.
To qualify for the Best Communities designation, D128 answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
Congratulations to all D128 music teacher and students, and to our colleagues at Libertyville School District 70 who also received this designation!
Watch for more features about this recognition and the D128 music programs at LHS and VHHS!
