Junior League Opportunities
Community Project Letter of Intent Opens June 22nd JLB is continuing with our two-part application process, including an initial Letter of Intent (LOI), for our Community Project application process. The ideal Community Project application is a year-long project that shows a need for both volunteers and dollars. All LOIs will be due July 17th and agencies with a project that best aligns with the League’s community priorities and volunteer needs will be invited to submit a full Community Project Application, that will be due August 29th.
Need Volunteers? The Junior League of Birmingham’s Corps of Volunteers project enables the League to assist community agencies that do not have a need for League volunteers on an ongoing basis but may have a need to staff a one or two-day special event or have a one-time need for extra volunteers. Any nonprofit organization in the Birmingham metropolitan area is eligible for application. To apply, please click below.

Community Foundation: Morris Grant Fund OPEN
Morris Fund Grant Cycle is Now Open!
In 2015, Phillip Morris—a champion of how good design enriches our communities and our lives, and a former executive editor of Southern Living magazine—established the Philip A. Morris Fund for the Design Arts through an estate gift, as an endowed Field of Interest Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Birmingham. He envisioned a fund that provides resources to support the design arts and the role that the design arts play in building thriving communities.
Central to the mission of the fund is to create and expand awareness of the design arts and the impact of quality design. Broadly stated, “design arts” include but are not limited to:
- Urban planning
- Design and the built environment
- Architecture
- Graphic arts and graphic design
- Landscape planning and design
Applications may be submitted beginning today and are due by 11:59 p.m. June 30. Applicants may be asked to participate in a site visit prior to the Morris Fund committee making their decision.

A special thank you to Jeremy Sherer, Assistant US Attorney, for curating & sharing this list
From Jeremy Sherer:
Federal grants continue to slowly trickle out. And, I don’t want any of what is available to pass anyone by. At the bottom of this email and attached are currently open federal grant resources. Also, I want to relay a great training opportunity and resource. Immediately below is a great training resource for public service providers who need professional continuing education credits.
The Child Trafficking Solutions Project and the Children’s Aid Society of Alabama regularly host a variety of substantive in-person and remote training opportunities. On June 24, they have another great, free continuing education training that offers 6.5 continuing education credit for law enforcement, first responders, and social workers. The training will be provided in Huntsville and is entitled “Child Trafficking Training for First Responders”. To get more information on this training, please visit - Child Trafficking Training for First Responders - Huntsville PD Training Center. To learn about additional trainings offered by the Children’s Aid Society, please visit - Children's Aid Society of Alabama Events.
Three new funding opportunities are below, but I do want to also refresh the suicide prevention grant for your attention. It carries a significant number of awards and can provide meaningful trauma support for communities.
The SSG Fox SPGP directs efforts to reduce Veteran suicide by awarding grants to community-based organizations to directly provide or coordinate the provision of primarily non-clinical suicide prevention services to eligible individuals and their families. Eligible individuals include certain Veterans and Active-Duty Service Members as defined by statute and regulations. Veteran suicide risk is reduced by services that improve mental health status, well-being, financial stability, and social support. Services provided by grantees may include case management, peer support, linkage to VA care and benefits, emergency clinical services, faith-based or innovative approaches. Most Veterans who die by suicide were not engaged with VA in the years prior to their deaths. This program addresses a critical gap by engaging and serving Veterans at risk for suicide who were previously out of VA’s reach and their family members.
Services for Victims of Crime (60 Expected Awards) - Due June 23, 2026
This opportunity supports the development, expansion, and strengthening of victim service programs for all victims of crime throughout the United States and its territories. OVC invites proposals for projects to provide direct services to all victims of crime, including child and youth victims; victims of elder abuse, fraud, and exploitation; and other types of crime victims. Victim services may include, but are not limited to, emergency assistance, case management, shelter and housing, medical and dental care, victim advocacy, transportation, childcare, legal services, and employment assistance. All services proposed under this program must directly address the needs of crime victims.
Services for Victims of Technology-Facilitated Abuse (Six Projected Awards) - Due June 23, 2026
This opportunity supports victim services to address technology-facilitated abuse (TFA). TFA includes, but is not limited to, crimes commonly referred to as image-based sexual abuse, non-consensual distribution of intimate images, sextortion, synthetic intimate images (“deepfakes”), online stalking, harassment, and abuse.
Technology to Support Services for Victims of Crime (Four Projected Awards) - Due June 23, 2026
This opportunity supports projects that create, expand, or enhance the use of technology by victim service organizations to improve interaction with crime victims, elevate service quality, and ensure accessibility and responsiveness. This funding is not intended to support projects that — • primarily fund equipment or supply purchases without substantial technological development components. • procure existing, commercial, off-the-shelf technology solutions. • duplicate existing services or products. • include active investigation or prosecution activities.
