A Big Thank You from the Principal!

Dear Elementary School Families,

Wow, what a fantastic start to the school year it's been! We're so incredibly proud of how well our students have settled in during this first month. A huge thank you for all your support in getting them ready and excited for learning every day! 🍎

Keeping Our School Safe and Organized

We have a few important safety and pick-up reminders to share:

  • Morning Drop-Off: To help keep our mornings smooth and safe, adults are not permitted to walk students into the school building before school starts. This is due to school district safety protocols. Our staff is ready and waiting to welcome your children at the doors!

    • If you need to speak with the school Nurse, please let us know at the door when you drop off your child.

Early Pick-Ups: If you need to pick up your child early from school, please remember to bring your photo identification. This helps us quickly verify your information in PowerSchool and ensures your child is released safely to the correct person. We are asking you to not pick up students an hour before dismissal time, as this often disrupts the classroom and causes confusion to student learning.

Practicing for Safety: Drills

We've already had two successful fire drills, and our students did a wonderful job! We'll be practicing other important safety drills soon:

  • August 27th: We will have a practice shelter-in-place drill, followed by a lockdown safety drill.

  • September 2nd: We will hold a practice evacuation drill.

These are just practice safety drills, designed to help everyone know what to do if a real emergency ever occurs. Please take a moment to talk with your child about these drills and explain that they help keep everyone safe at school.

Thank you for your continued partnership in making our school a wonderful and secure place for all our learners!

Warmly,

Christina Trujillo, PhD

Water

We want to help our students stay hydrated, especially when they go outside for recess or PE. Please send your students with a water bottle that is already chilled. This will help us to keep students cool, especially on hot days.

Cough drops, etc.

All Over the Counter (OTC) medications, and those that are considered organic are not allowed at our school without an order from the doctor. Our school Nurse, Cathy Krumwiede, can provide the forms if parents want to get it signed for the school year but they must be kept in the health office for student to come and pick up.
