Principal's Message
Dear Roosevelt Families,
At Roosevelt, we know that strong partnerships between school and home are essential to student success. This was especially evident during our recent parent-teacher conferences, where so many families took the time to connect with teachers, celebrate student growth, and discuss ways to support continued learning.
Through my conversations with both staff and families, I heard just how meaningful and impactful these conferences were. It is a wonderful reminder that when families and educators work together, our students thrive. Thank you to our Roosevelt families for your continued involvement, support, and commitment to your child's education. Together, we make Roosevelt a special place to learn and grow!
As we enter November, a season of gratitude and reflection, I am especially thankful for our wonderful students, dedicated staff, and supportive families. I wish you and your loved ones a month filled with warmth, joy, and meaningful moments together. Happy November, Roosevelt families!
Warmly,
Hadeel Nimeh

Vision of a Lakewood Ranger in Action: Literacy Night
Roosevelt recently hosted a wonderful Literacy Night, thoughtfully planned by our English Language teacher, Mrs. Szucs, and our ISGI, Ms. Warren! Families joined us for pizza and an evening of interactive literacy stations where students had the opportunity to practice and strengthen their reading and language skills alongside their families.
This event highlighted our Vision of a Lakewood Ranger competencies of Collaboration and Communication, as students, families, and educators came together to support learning in a fun and engaging environment. Literacy Night was a great reminder of the power of school-family partnerships and the important role families play in helping our students grow as learners. Thank you to our staff for creating this meaningful opportunity and to our families for joining us!
Shaping Tomorrow, Together: Our Elementary Transition Plan
Shaping Tomorrow, Together Committee Update
On Oct. 21, the District held its Shaping Tomorrow, Together student meeting, gathering five 4th- grade student leaders from each building to hear their thoughts and ideas about the transition of many of our elementary students to new buildings next year. The students were full of creative and thoughtful suggestions as they collaborated in their House groups on what measures school communities and the District can take to ensure a smooth and welcoming transition for everyone. Great ideas were discussed for events and activities this spring, summer, and into the new school year.
The adult Shaping Tomorrow, Together Committee also met on the 21st. Some of the topics discussed included: planning of May field trips to buildings, and a districtwide event in June that would include meet-ups and tours of buildings. The District also updated the committee on open enrollment, which begins Jan. 19, and noted that walking-distance maps for each school have been added to the Elementary Transition Page. The final committee meeting will be Nov. 18.
Attendance: Building Strong Habits Early
Attendance and Achievement
Research consistently shows a strong connection between attendance and academic achievement. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to read at grade level, master key math skills, and feel confident in the classroom. Every school day provides opportunities for learning that are difficult to recreate at home.
ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION:
With shifting seasonal lighting, early morning travel can sometimes be dim. Below are some safety reminders for walkers and bikers to help drivers spot them easily during their morning commute:
Wear bright or reflective clothing.
Use front white lights and rear red reflectors or lights on bicycles and scooters.
Stay on well-lit sidewalks and cross streets under streetlights whenever possible.

🚸 Crosswalk and Sidewalk Safety
A gentle reminder: We want all of our students and families to get to and from school safely! As a reminder, please be mindful of crosswalks and sidewalks during arrival and dismissal. Please do not stop or park on crosswalks or sidewalks, as this creates safety concerns for families walking with their children. Keeping these areas clear allows everyone, including our youngest Rangers, to cross the street safely. Thank you for helping us keep our Roosevelt family safe!
