Dear DMS Families,

It is hard to believe that we are only two weeks away from our Winter break. With that, Trimester I has officially closed, and Report Cards will be available today by 3:00 p.m. via the Aspen Parent Portal. As a reminder, please reach out to the DMS Main Office if you cannot access your portal. However, accounts will not be able to be reset over the weekend.

As we move into next week, I wanted to remind you that grades 6-8 students will participate in the Sandy Hook Promise's Start with Hello assembly on Thursday, December 12th. Information on the program has been provided in the last month of our DMS Delivers and can still be found towards the end of this newsletter.

Also, and as a reminder, there is a Blood Drive at Beckwith Middle School on Saturday, December 7th. You can find further details below. You will also find information on the district's new Podcast, DMS holiday assistance, and buying a yearbook, as well as our November Students of the Month.

Please also find the December Wellness Newsletter here.

We hope that all of our DMS families had a restful Thanksgiving Break! Have a great weekend!

Winter Recess Winter Recess

As the weather continues to get colder, please remind students to bring sweatshirts and/or jackets to school each day. We will continue to go outside for recess if the weather permits.

Also, if you are missing something at home, please encourage students to check our Lost and Found during lunch. We also remind them often, but another reminder might be helpful.

Thank you in advance for your help with this.

Reminder to Families Reminder to Families

Dear DR Families,

As you may know, Massachusetts now provides free breakfast and lunch for all students across the Commonwealth!

We are encouraging families who may have qualified for the National Free & Reduced School Lunch Program in the past to complete the online application. This helps determine eligibility and ensures that we can continue to offer reduced or waived fees for various programs and activities. When completing the application, please remember to include consent for sharing your status with relevant departments and programs.

Without this qualification and your consent, we will be unable to provide reduced or waived fees.

Thank you for your cooperation!

DMS Holiday Assistance DMS Holiday Assistance

As we continue into the holiday season, we are reaching out to all families regarding holiday assistance. Please be sure to let us know if your family could benefit from any food assistance around the holidays by completing this form no later than December 13th for December holiday assistance. All requests for assistance will be kept confidential.

Sandy Hook Promise- Start with Hello Assemblies Sandy Hook Promise- Start with Hello Assemblies

Over the course of the last year, we have been working collaboratively with members of the Sandy Hook Promise to get their organization into our middle schools for assemblies in Grades 6-8. As many of you know, the Sandy Hook Promise is a national non-profit organization founded and led by several family members of those who tragically passed away at Sandy Hook Elementary School as a result of school violence in 2012. This organization aims to empower youth to “know the signs” and take action against violence in schools. The program hopes to ensure that “children feel more secure, connected and emotionally intelligent” as a result of the program. Please see below on their Start with Hello initiative, "...a prevention program that teaches children and teens how to be more socially inclusive and connected to each other."

Technology Repair Fees Technology Repair Fees

Dear Families,

We hope this message finds you well. As part of our commitment to maintaining our technology resources, we wanted to inform you about our updated repair fee structure. This will go into effect on October 28, 2024. These fees help us cover the cost of repairs when school-issued devices are damaged due to misuse or carelessness. The fees are divided into three tiers, depending on the extent of the damage:

  • Level 1: Charger, Cover (top or bottom), Touchpad, etc- $40
  • Level 2: Keyboard, Monitor- $75
  • Level 3: Total Loss/Replacement- $300

We encourage students to handle their devices with care to avoid any damage and the associated costs. If a device does require repair, the appropriate fee will be communicated to you along with the steps to resolve the issue.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support in keeping our technology in great condition!

In addition, if your child needs Chromebook repairs, you will receive an email directly from mySchoolBucks regarding payment.
