A Message from the Principal, Dr. Martinez
Attendance Matters—for Students and Our School
Every school day is an opportunity for learning, growth, and connection. Research shows that students who attend regularly are more likely to succeed academically, graduate on time, and be prepared for life after high school. Consistent attendance builds strong habits that last a lifetime.
Attendance also impacts more than just student achievement. In Texas, state funding for public schools is directly tied to Average Daily Attendance (ADA). When students are absent—even with an excused absence—our school receives less funding. This means fewer dollars to support teachers, programs, and resources that benefit all students.
We understand that illnesses and unavoidable absences happen. But whenever possible, please schedule appointments and travel outside the school day and encourage your student to be present every day. Together, we can ensure our Lobos get the most from their education while keeping our school strong.
New Cell Phone Law in Texas
As you may know, a new state law now requires schools to prohibit cell phone use during the instructional day. At Langham Creek, this aligns with our efforts to keep classrooms focused on learning and minimize distractions. Students are expected to keep their devices turned off and put away in their backpacks all day from 6:45 AM to 2:35 PM. Your continued partnership in reinforcing this expectation at home helps our teachers maintain strong learning environments.
Thank You for Your Support
We are grateful for the ongoing support from our parents and families. Whether it’s encouraging attendance, reinforcing campus expectations, or cheering on our Lobos at events, your partnership makes a difference. Together, we ensure Langham Creek remains a place where students thrive.
CFISD District Updates
What is CCMR?
College, Career, & Military Readiness (CCMR) equips students with the essential skills and knowledge needed for life beyond high school, whether they choose higher education, a career, or military service. Through a variety of resources, curriculum, and activities, CCMR ensures students are well-prepared for their next steps. Engaging in collegiate-level work during high school boosts their chances of college enrollment and degree attainment, leading to higher lifetime earnings. Additionally, earning college credits in high school can significantly reduce tuition costs, making higher education more accessible.
What does it mean to be College, Career, or Military Ready?
- College Ready: Graduates will not have to take remedial classes in college, thus saving time and money!
- Career Ready: Graduates have the essential skills to find, acquire, maintain, and grow within a career. They can also enroll in additional postsecondary training without the need for remediation.
- Military Ready: Graduates have committed to enlistment with the United States military. Proof of enlistment (DD Form 4) must be turned into the campus.
What are the benefits to students who are CCMR Ready?
Students with CCMR Ready status may...
- SAVE TIME & MONEY
Graduates will not have to take remedial classes in college! - FIND, ACQUIRE, MAINTAIN & GROW WITHIN A CAREER
Students have the essential skills to embark on a meaningful career after graduation. Career ready graduates can also enroll in additional postsecondary training without the need for remediation. - CHOOSE TO ENLIST IN THE MILITARY
Graduates are prepared if they choose to commit to enlistment with the United States military.

Spring Dual Credit Course Registration
Spring 2026 Dual Credit Course Registration is NOW Available. Schedules/electives for LCHS classes for Spring 2026 were determined during 2025-26 Course requests. However, students can register to take additional DC courses outside of the school day at the Lone Star College campus or online. Earning Credits in High School
In high school, seat time plays a critical role in ensuring students earn credit for their courses. Credit is awarded not only by successfully passing the class, but also by meeting the required attendance, or “seat time,” standards set by the state. Once students fall below the 90% seat time threshold, they risk losing credit regardless of their academic performance. Because this window has already passed, no schedule changes are permitted, emphasizing the importance of consistent attendance and engagement throughout the semester. Meeting seat time expectations ensures students remain on track for graduation.

* NEW* Cell Phones and Personal Communication Devices
A new Texas law (House Bill 1481) requires school districts to prohibit student use of all personal communication devices during the school day. Therefore, Cypress-Fairbanks ISD is updating its personal communication device policy.
For the 2025-2026 school year, the use of all personal communication devices is prohibited during the school day. Devices must be turned off and stored in the student’s personal bag or backpack at all times during the school day.
CFISD has created a Personal Communication Devices Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) to address some of the implications of this new policy. Please review the content of this FAQ with your student(s) prior to the start of the 2025-26 school year.
Safety Updates
To help us keep our school safe, please talk to your students about the following important expectations:
Student IDs: Students must wear their ID badges at all times while on campus. This is essential for us to know who is in the building. If a student arrives at school without their ID, they will need to purchase a temporary badge for $1.00, which will be added to their campus fees.
Clear Backpacks: All students must use clear backpacks. Purses or lunchboxes that are 6x9 inches or smaller are exempt and do not have to be clear.
No Hoods Inside: Students are not permitted to wear hoodies with the hoods up inside the school building. This rule helps our staff identify everyone on campus and ensure they belong here.
