Daily Devotion

How do we begin the day at CCS?

With a song and Bible teaching! We love our morning devotion time!

At the lower school campus, PK through 6th Grade begin the day in the gym with a song of worship, a scripture devotion, and the doxology. For students in the upper school, morning singing and devotion happens between 1st and 2nd period classes each day.

Some of this week's scriptures were:

  • Hebrews 12:1
  • Luke 11:2-4
  • Exodus 16:19-20
  • Psalm 34:18
  • Genesis 50:16-21

Chapel Speaker Prayer

Each week students in the upper school hear from a guest speaker during chapel service. At the end of the service students and staff gather together to pray over the speaker. This week's special guest was a CCS Alumni, Pastor Parker Allen.

Self-Serve Snack Cart

This may sound silly, but our self-serve snack cart is a great example of the character our upper school students exhibit each day. Our "snack stand" complete with snack cart and drink cooler functions totally on the honor system. Students make their own change keep each other accountable. They do a fantastic job!

Non-Traditional, Student-Centered Schedule

Did you know that upper school students have a non-traditional class schedule? CCS middle and high school class schedules are non-traditional blocks that take out the monotony and build enrichment opportunities.

Students and teachers alike love this schedule!

Special Thanks to Our Mystery Giver

Last week was National School Counseling Week. Someone.... we haven't figured out who yet.... sent flowers to Mrs. Wilkins and Mrs. Yearwood.

To our mystery giver:

Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers! We love what we do and are so very thankful to be a small part of all the good things happening at CCS. Thank you for always being so supportive of our work as we help guide and guard the hearts of our students.

And.... we will eventually figure out who you are!

CHOOSE Act Funds for 2026-27

There are two application dates for the 2026-2027 academic year – one for renewing family applications and one for new family applications.

  • A renewing family application pertains to a family with participating student(s) that received a CHOOSE Act ESA digital wallet for the 2025-2026 academic year. These families can renew current participating students and add siblings of participating students starting December 15, 2025, through the application deadline of March 31, 2026. A renewing family must renew. It is not an automatic renewal.
  • A new family application pertains to a family that has not previously applied for CHOOSE Act Alabama; or a family applicant that applied for the 2025-2026 academic year but was either not awarded, or did not complete the award affidavit in ClassWallet. These families can apply starting on January 2, 2026, through the application deadline of March 31, 2026.

Candy Grams

Candy Gram order forms went home with students this week. This is a fundraiser for PTF and SGA and a fun way to celebrate Valentine's day. If you would like to save time you can let PTF/SGA take care of your class Valentine's day needs.

Ideas for Candy Grams include:

  • Sending one to a friend
  • Sending one from parents to student
  • Sending one to each child in the class (No trip to Walmart) :-)
  • Sending one to a teacher
  • Sending one to a sibling

Forms and money should be sent to your student's teacher. The last day to turn in orders is February 9th. Candy Grams will be delivered on the 13th by a special valentine friend.
