Good afternoon everyone!

As we approach the long weekend, there is plenty to celebrate! Firstly, a number of our Year 6 students represented St Bernadette’s in an Interschool Basketball Competition today. We participated with skill, teamwork and enthusiasm and left with our heads held high! We once again thank staff and families for supporting this great opportunity for our students. A special mention to Brett & Sharyn Clayden who assisted with coaching both the boys and girls teams today. Thank you!

All our students participated in our St Bernadette’s Reconciliation Liturgy today. National Reconciliation Week 2026 runs from 27 May to 3 June, under the official theme, "All In". This theme calls on all Australians to commit to reconciliation wholeheartedly every day, stepping away from the sidelines to share the responsibility of creating meaningful change alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Thanks to our Mission Captains Porsha and Elliott for leading our liturgy and spreading the message of reconciliation for all Australians. The final song’s lyrics, "We are one, but we are many” from We are Australian, beautifully sums up the spirit of unity, respect and shared identity that lies at the heart of reconciliation.

A reminder that this Friday (tomorrow) is a Pupil Free Day, providing staff with valuable professional learning and planning time. Please note that students do not attend school on this day and the School Office will be closed. In addition, Monday is the WA Day Public Holiday, giving families an opportunity to enjoy a well-earned long weekend together.

WA Day provides an opportunity for all Western Australians to celebrate the rich history, diverse cultures and unique spirit that make our state such a wonderful place to live. It is a time to reflect on the contributions of Aboriginal peoples, early settlers and the many communities that have helped shape Western Australia into the vibrant and inclusive state it is today. We encourage families to take the opportunity over the long weekend to explore our beautiful surroundings, spend time together and appreciate all that makes Western Australia special.

We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing break and we look forward to welcoming students back to school on Tuesday refreshed and ready for another great week of learning.

Have a wonderful long weekend!

In the Catholic tradition, our parish and school are closely connected.

The parish, led by Father Giovanni, provides spiritual leadership and is responsible for ensuring we nurture students’ faith alongside academic learning. The school supports the parish by helping children grow in Catholic values, preparing them for sacraments, and encouraging family participation in parish life.

It’s essentially a partnership — the parish is the faith community, and the school is one of its key ministries. For more information about our Parish, please click here:
