Class of 2027 Commencement Ceremony
Thursday, May 20th at 6:30 p.m.
Attention All Parents and Guardians in All Grades, Can You Help To Make After Prom 2027 a Success!
After Prom Committee is looking for parent and guardian volunteers! Can you help out to make the night special for the Class of 2027? Can you volunteer your time, help get donations, organizing fundraiser, or even just donating money, prizes, food? Please come to the first meeting of the year! ALL high school parents and guardians who would like to get involved are invited!
The first meeting we will discuss the event's format, fundraising, and volunteer opportunities. Each year we have seen the number of students who want to attend grow and we need YOU to help us continue that growth. If you are looking for a great, low-pressure way to get involved, please consider joining us on Wednesday, November 11th at 7:00 in the Blue Devil Room (West Entrance across from the 9th/10th grade office) at the high school. If you'd like more information, please reach out via email to brunswickafterprom@gmail.com.
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students,
There is so much to celebrate at Brunswick High School! We are proud of our students who continue to make a positive impact through their hard work, dedication, character, and commitment to excellence. Whether being recognized through our PRIDE Awards, Student of the Month, Student of the Week, or for outstanding athletic accomplishments, we love seeing our students shine both in the classroom and on the field.
These recognitions represent more than achievements. They reflect the effort, determination, leadership, sportsmanship, and positive attitudes that make our Blue Devil Family special.
Congratulations to all of our students who have been recognized! Keep setting goals, working hard, supporting one another, and making the most of your Journey as a Blue Devil.
I want to take this opportunity to reinforce several important expectations that are in place at Brunswick High School. These expectations are essential to maintaining a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for everyone.
I Want to Reinforce Several Expectations:
Cell Phone and Earbud/Headphone Policy
Our cell phone policy is in effect throughout the entire school day. Cell phones must be turned off and secured in students' backpacks from the time they enter the building until they exit BHS at the end of the day. Cell phones are not to be carried in pockets, placed in hoodies, or kept on students in any way. Earbuds and headphones are not permitted to be worn during the school day.
When students are found with their cell phones, the phones will be collected and turned into the appropriate grade-level office. They may be picked up by the student or parent/guardian, depending on the circumstances and consequences assigned. Consequences for violations may include parent/guardian pickup, two-hour detentions, and suspension, depending on the situation and frequency of violations.
Ohio law restricts student use of cell phones during the school day, and our building expectations are designed to eliminate distractions and allow students to focus on learning, engagement, and interaction with one another.
Student Movement and Location Expectations
Students are assigned to a specific class or designated location throughout the school day. Students are expected to remain in their assigned location and may not leave a classroom or designated area without permission and an authorized digital or paper pass from a staff member. Simply having a reason to be somewhere else does not eliminate the requirement for a pass.
Students who leave assigned locations without authorization or fail to follow established procedures will be subject to school discipline.
Respect for Others
Respect for all students and staff is an expectation at BHS. Name-calling, derogatory language, inappropriate comments, harassment, and disrespectful interactions have no place in our school. The words we use and the way we treat one another matter. We expect students to demonstrate respect, take responsibility for their actions, and contribute positively to our school community.
These are not new expectations. They are established procedures that we need every student to understand and follow consistently. We ask families to reinforce these expectations at home and partner with us in holding students accountable.
Our goal is to provide an environment where all students and staff feel safe, respected, and able to focus on teaching and learning. Being a Blue Devil means taking pride in how we conduct ourselves, how we treat others, and the example we set each day.
Thank you for your continued support,
Mr. Keith Merrill
Principal

π Ohio Direct Admission Seniors Class of 2027 π
Brunswick High School opted into the Ohio Direct Admissions program this academic year. This program provides our students with the opportunity to explore college admissions offers based on their academic performance. Students do not have to complete applications to receive these offers but the decisions are made based on the academic data we uploaded for the Class of 2027.
The portal for the Department of Higher Education is not open for students in the Class of 2027. Students received an email to their BHS email address with information to log in. You will need to access the email to log in. If you do not have the email please check your spam and then reach out to Ms. Schneider.
These admissions offers are for the college not necessarily a major. Students should follow the next steps to be considered for a specific major. To learn more click here: Ohio Direct Admissions program
This is an exciting opportunity to see what options are available to you in your post-secondary planning. Ms. Schneider is available to answer any questions you may have regarding this process. Remember you should not accept a college offer and pay an acceptance fee until you see your financial aid package!
Another part of planning for post-secondary education is completing the FAFSA. We have partnered with College Now to provide support with families with the FAFSA and financial aid questions. You can sign up for a meeting with College Now here: College Now Sign Up
1st Semester Exams and Midterms
First semester exams are December 16th, 17th, and 18th, please plan accordingly. Exams are required for all students and have a direct impact on first semester GPAs. These assessments account for 20% of the semester grade, are averaged into the GPA, and semester grades play an important role in determining class rank. Seniors, please remember that this is the final semester that will establish your official class rank. Regular attendance, completing homework, and staying on top of projects, essays, and other assignments are essential to being fully prepared.
Congratulations Rylan Sheets, BHS Student of the Month!
Congratulations BHS Student of the Week!
Congratulations Briegh Worsencroft, BHS Student of the Month!

Interested in Skilled Trades? Union 101 at BHS! Learn about Trade Unions & Local Opportunities
On Friday, November 20, BHS will host Union 101, an exciting opportunity for students to learn more about careers in the skilled trades and the opportunities available through union membership. Representatives from several local unions will be on hand to share their experiences, explain the pathways into the trades, and discuss how unions can support professional growth, career development, and long-term success. We are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and experienced group joining us for this event!
This opportunity is open to students in grades 9β12. Students may participate in one of three ways:
Individual Registration: Students may register for the event through SchooLinks. Students who register will be excused from class to attend.
Class Participation: Teachers may bring their classes to attend. Please reach out to me if you are interested in bringing your class.
Student Recommendations: Students in grades 11β12 may be invited based on staff recommendations. If you have a student you would like to recommend, please send me an email.
We are excited to provide students with an opportunity to explore the skilled trades, learn about the benefits of working with a union, and discover career pathways they may not have previously considered.
Purple Star Families
During Veterans Day week, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank our Purple Star families at Brunswick High School. We are grateful for the service and dedication of your loved ones, both at home and abroad. Whether your family member is currently serving, has served, or has made the ultimate sacrifice, please know that you are valued, appreciated, and an important part of our Blue Devil Family.
At BHS, we are proud to stand alongside you, support you, and honor your family's service.

The Brunswick City School District encourages students, teachers, staff, parents and other members of our community to report any instances of potential violence, bullying, self-harm or any other issue where our students may be at risk. Information about the SaferSchools Tip Line can be found on the Brunswick City Schools webpage. The Brunswick City School District partners with SaferSchools Ohio to provide our families with a free resource for keeping our schools safe. The anonymous tip line service helps alert local law enforcement to potential school safety crisis. By calling or texting the statewide tip line (844-SAFEROH), you can report anything that is suspicious or endangering to you, your friends or your school. The SaferSchools Tip Line accepts calls and texts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
