Ms. Newton's Notes

Happy Tuesday!

We hope that you enjoyed the extended weekend. While school was not in session, our teachers were here engaged in math learning yesterday from Eureka Math, one of the resources we use for instruction. It was a day filled with learning!

Thank you for the support of our Fall book fair. We had a successful kick-off last Thursday and will be open until Friday morning. If you haven't had a chance to stop by, please do so this week between the hours of 7:30 - 3:30. Here are a few other reminders of things to come.

Cast Gatherings (Formerly Village Gatherings)

What do you call a group of Falcons? A Cast of Falcons.

We are so excited to prepare for our first gathering with students and families. We are not yet at a size that allows our entire school to gather in one space, so we will continue to have our Cast Gatherings in two parts. Each gathering will have a combination of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes. We will keep these groupings for the school year, but we might alternate days and times. We will have three special highlights this gathering- Hispanic Heritage Month, Nailah Carty, our Teacher of the Year and the Kick-off of Read-A-Thon.

  • 10/18/19 8:15-8:45 Foster, Stephen, Buckley, Shershin/Ledet, Monroe, Robinson, Guest, Vickery, Burns/Chatham, Prophet, Johnson, Madhere, Bishop/DiGiacomo

Read & Raise-a-Thon: 10/19 – 10/24

Information packets are coming home for our first “Read & Raise-a-thon” at F.Ave! Details can also be found on our website, click here. Here’s how you can help make this program a success:

  1. Discuss what the Read-A-Thon is and its importance to our school; help your child set a reading goal.
  2. Encourage your child to talk to neighbors, have them call grandparent, friends and other relatives to ask for support.
  3. Volunteer! We could use your help tallying reading minutes: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0f4fabab29a4fb6-fifth

  4. Encourage your child to read as much as they can from 10/19 – 10/24!

Very special THANK YOU to our sponsor, Brave+Kind Bookshop.

Easy ways to passively raise funds for F.AVE PTO

  2. Publix - No more keychain! Follow these easy instructions.
  3. Box Tops - Have your child bring in box tops. There's a large envelope/box near the front desk. They’ll be collected twice a year.
