What is a Classroom Representative?

Classroom Representatives (Room Reps) partner with their classroom teacher to help keep families connected and organize parent volunteers for class events, field trips, holiday parties, and other activities throughout the school year.

As a benefit, classroom reps get first dibs on chaperoning 1 class field trip.

Two Room Reps will be selected for each K–5 classroom. ECE classrooms will have two AM Reps and two PM Reps each. If more than two parents volunteer for a classroom, representatives will be selected at random from those who apply.

What does a Room Rep do?

Room Reps serve as a key communication link between teachers, the PTA, and classroom families. Responsibilities include:

• Sending emails on behalf of the classroom teacher when parent volunteers or support are needed for classroom activities and events
• Sharing PTA updates regarding upcoming events and volunteer opportunities with classroom families
• Ensuring 1-Room Rep from each classroom attends all PTA meetings.
• 5th grade reps will also be responsible for planning the end of year celebrations including the Chicago trip, the 5th grade picnic, and the clap out on the last day of school.

It’s a great way to stay connected to your child’s classroom, get to know other families, and help support our teachers and school community.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: All vehicles must be in and set up by 5:45 PM.

There will be NO vehicle entry after 5:45 PM due to safety reasons.

NOTE: Ames will not be open for bathrooms. Please plan accordingly.

The PTA will continue collecting favorite drinks, snacks, and classroom goodies to help our teachers and staff feel welcomed, appreciated, and supported as they begin the school year. Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference!
