DHSB Alumni Can you help?
8 July 2026
Good evening,
I hope you are all well and enjoying the lovely sunshine. We need your help please. The legend that is Mr Dave Riggs is retiring at the end of this term, next week, on the 17th July. Mr Riggs has been associated with the school for a staggering 53 years - first as a student, and for the last 25 years, as a teacher of History, and former Head of Humanities. Many of you will have been taught by him. We will certainly miss him!
Our current Head of History, Pam Mintoft, would love your help to compile a video montage for Mr Riggs, to share with him on his retirement. Just 10 - 15 seconds of something about him or his impact on you would be great. Many of you will have been on trips with Mr Riggs too. Alternatively one word to sum him up would also be very helpful in putting together the speech.
If you would prefer to send a longer more personal message, Mrs Mintoft can share the file with Mr Riggs after the 17th July. Please send your memories, as soon as you can, to pamela.mintoft@dhsb.org
A very big thank you in advance.
Mr Riggs wrote his own DHSB memories for me in 2023, and I'd like to share them with you here:
The DHSB Memories of Dave Riggs
If you happen to see Mr Riggs, please don't mention this to him 🙂🙂
On a seperate note, Paul Scott, our Leader of Careers & PSHE and Head of Computer Science, is looking for your help too. He is trying to strenghten DHSB's links with local employers and build a local talent pipeline for our students (Mr Scott's great words not mine 🙂)
Mr Scott says there are two fantastic ways you can support our students:
Attend our Careers Fair on Friday 2 July 2027, giving students the opportunity to learn about different industries, careers and pathways.

You can register your interest in either (or both) opportunities using the same sign-up links above.
The stronger our network of local employers, the more opportunities DHSB can provide for our students to explore careers, develop workplace skills and see the exciting opportunities available within our local community.
Every new employer connection helps us create meaningful experiences that inspire our students and strengthen the future workforce in our region.
If you have any questions regarding the above, please email Mr Scott at careers@dhsb.org
A big thank you in advance if you are able to help with either of the above.
Best wishes,
Beverley Kinsella
